Individual rating of the stories: The second bakery attack: 3 Stars On seeing the 100% perfect girl one beautiful April morning: 5 Stars Birthday Girl: 4 Stars Samsa in love: 3.5 Stars A Folklore of my Generation- A prehistory of late-stage Capitalism: 4 Stars . This was actually a well chosen Collection as all stories fit together so well. They all are solid and very lovely to read even those I rated under 4 Stars I enjoyed a lot individually.
A great collection of interesting short stories. Some of them really got me thinking. There was only one I didn't like that much, but that was because the story was based on a story by a certain other author I don't like. So that's totally on me. It was my first book from Murakami and I'm intrigued to read more of his stories.
The second bakery attack: 2 ⭐ On seeing the 100% perfect girl one beautiful april morning: 2.5 ⭐ Birthday girl: 4 ⭐ Samsa in love: 1 ⭐ (as much as I love the metamorphosis and as much as I love Murakamis writing, I couldn't bring myself to give this/his take on it a higher rating) A folklore for my generation: A prehistory of late-stage capitalism: 5 ⭐ This leaves me with an average of 2.9 ⭐ I always find it difficult to rate a short story collection, especially if my individual ratings vary as much as they did in this case
