I was really hovering between a 2 or 3 star rating. These two books feel like the longest build up for a fantasy world that I’m not entirely sure about if I want to continue reading. There’s two more books to go, and I don’t even know what will happen or where it is supposed to eventually go. Also im not really convinced of Murakami as an author, so I don’t recommend these two books as an introduction to his works. The way he describes sex and woman feels very distant, kind of like a teen in his puberty imaging what the other gender must feel around this topic. Nevertheless there were some very interesting points to the story, the whole arc around Aomame was quite entertaining and probably kept me going throughout the book. Will I finish the World around 1Q84? One can only wonder…
