2.0Abbruch bei 40 % Warum hat mir das Buch so gar nicht gefallen, wo doch der Realismus genau mein Geschmack ist? Die Welt des Varieté und der Operette interessieren mich eigentlich nicht, doch das ist noch lange kein Grund, warum ein Buch hierüber nicht nach meinem Geschmack sein kann. Ein Buch kann eigentlich alles möglich zum Thema haben, solange mich Stil und Sprache fesseln. Also gefiel mir der Stil nicht? Was macht den Zola-Stil aus? Da muss einmal lobend erwähnt werden, dass er nichts vorwegnimmt oder erzählt, sondern die Beschreibung eines Charakters einer Person über den Dialog entstehen lassen will. Man könnte jetzt wohlwollend sagen, dass er den Leuten aufs Maul schaut und daher ein sehr authentischer Schriftsteller ist. Die aus einfachen Verhältnissen stammende Nana, eine schlechte Operettensängerin, wird aufgrund ihrer äußerlichen Erscheinungen und ihre Reize von der Männerwelt in Paris verehrt und hofiert. Sie weiß diese Rolle geschickt auszunutzen und kommt so zu Reichtum. Die Verkommenheit der Subjekte im Buch kommt deutlich zum Vorschein durch die Art und Weise seines Erzählstils. Zola war zunächst Journalist und so wirkt auch seine Erzählweise. Und da komme ich zum eigentlichen Problem, das ich beim Lesen hatte. Mich interessiert nicht, was dumme Leute für dumme Sachen sagen, um zu zeigen, wie dumm sie sind. Ich bin privat jemand, der eher still ist. Ein Vier-Augen-Gespräch ziehe ich einer Party. Zola nimmt mich nun ständig mit auf solche Gesellschaften und statt sie humoristisch oder sprachlich geschliffen zu beschreiben, drückt er mir die kompletten Kassetten von irgendwelchen blasierten Franzosen ins Ohr. Im O-Ton. Oh Bitte, wenn dass die einzige Art der Abbildung der Wirklichkeit wäre in der Literatur, dann würde ich die 2. Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts auslassen. Ich fühle mich einfach unwohl, diese Unterhaltungen miterleben zu müssen und mein verschüchtertes Ich will einfach nur schnell da raus, nach Hause, zu einem guten Buch. Ich würde mir nicht anmaßen, zu behaupten, dass dies kein gutes Buch ist, welches es nicht schafft, ein Gesellschaftsbild Frankreichs am Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts zu zeichnen. Aber es ist ein Buch, welches einfach nicht nach meinem Geschmack ist.
