When I initially picked up this book, I was already in a mood. I think everyone is aware of recent developments for women all over the world and let me just tell you, I‘ve been angry. And sad. And furious. And so many other things. Reading this book kinda felt like therapy for me. Not because it gives you so much comfort, but because it gives you this wonderful thing called ✨perspective✨. It‘s not just a perspective into how it was, but also into the ongoing fight that we‘re having everyday for women. So many times I wanted to scream at the book for being relatable to my life - a book about a 1950s woman. While I loved this, I also hate it. I shouldn‘t relate to a woman in the 1950s. We should be further along. Every single character in this book is flawed, in the best way possible. It‘s what makes the narration so good; they‘re tragic, weird, over the top, sometimes a whole lot of negative things - but each and everyone of them represents life so perfectly. I can‘t really put into words how long I‘ve been thinking about this book now. How long this will carry with me. So for that, thank you. This is what reading should be about.
