— Dieses Buch hat für mich ein heftiges "Lesen" und "Drüber nachdenken" Verhältnis. Gelesen sind die 100 Seiten in kürzester Zeit. Drüber nachdenken werd ich noch lange. Kennt ihr das wenn man einen normalen, guten Tag hat und auf einmal schiebt euer Hirn euch eine triggernde Erinnerung ins Bewusstsein. Das ist das Buch hier. Ich habe noch keine Story gelesen, die mir so existentielle Angst einjagt. Ich will die Vorstellung davon am liebsten komplett verdrängen ha ha ha. ⠀ — Also... der Protagonist befindet sich in einer Hölle, in Form einer Bibliothek voller Bücher, die er nur verlassen kann, wenn er genau das EINE Buch findet das seine Lebensgeschichte erzählt. Er ist nicht allein, kann alles essen was und wann er will, Beziehungen eingehen etc. Klingt doch nicht so schlimm oder? Doch. Die endlosen Regale sind gefüllt mit Büchern die jegliche mögliche Buchstaben Kombination enthalten. Jede. Mögliche. Kombination. Viel Spaß beim rechnen. Und mehr zu dieser grauenvollen Idee wenn ihr "Library of Babel" googlet. 🫶🏼 ⠀ — Also nein, kein Fairy Spice or spannender Thriller, nur Buchstabensalat. Auf den letzten Seiten gibt es sogar die Rechnung wie groß so eine Bibliothek wäre und wie lange es überhaupt dauern würde ihren Endpunkt zu finden. Und nein, nochmal sterben ist nicht drin. 🫡 — 𝐁𝐄𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐔𝐍𝐆: 5 / 5 ✨️ schätz ich mal?
What counts as hell? Soren Johansson is a devout Mormon until he dies. He is sent to Zoroastrianist Hell. At first, he is confused. Then it is explained to him that his version of hell is being forced to find the one book telling one part of his life story. It could be any part in any book, and there are billions of books in the Hell library How will he find it? He has to keep trying, and having hope. Hell is knowing that someone you love can throw themselves off the library's edge and take light years to fall and you may see them again but you also may never find each other again. Hell is monotony. Hell is love that ends but could potentially resume. In this Hell, you can die and wake up the next day. Can you re-find your lover? Who knows!? "Breath, comes to me in spurts of joy. Stones retched out bloody worms, worn red with the passing of licking patterns of salt."

Ich hatte dieses Werk zufällig auf Instagram gesehen und dachte ich lese mal rein, habe mich vorher nicht wirklich groß informiert. Ich wurde extrem positiv überrascht! Obwohl das Buch sehr kurz ist, ist die Dimension, die in so wenig Zeit aufgebaut wird immens. Die Idee, die Bedeutungslosigkeit von Raum und Zeit und später auch aller anderen Aspekte außer des Ziels hat mich tief beeindruckt und sehr nachdenklich zurückgelassen. Definitiv empfehlenswert!
What is our purpose?
Even if hell or heaven is as we expect it to be, what will hold value for bilion of billion of years that boredom will not come without a goal in life? How can heaven be anything else than hell? Living on forever? There arent things to do for an infinite amount of time. Do we not draw pleasure from the finite time that is given to us? To use it as we see fit and the expectation for it to stop one day?
