'You aren't merry,' said Clem to her captor. 'And you aren't all men. So there's been some marketing confusion somewhere along the line.'
Mariel, a newly blooded captain of the Merry Men, is desperate to live up to the legacy of her grandfather, the legendary Robin Hood. Clem, a backwoods assistant healer known for her new-fangled cures, just wants to help people.
When Mariel's ramshackle band kidnap Clem as retribution for her guardian helping the Sheriff of Nottingham, all seems to be going (sort of) to plan . until Jack Hartley, Mariel's father and Commander of the Merry Men, is captured in a deadly ambush. Determined to prove herself, Mariel sets out to get him back - with her annoyingly cheerful kidnappee in tow.
But the wood is at war. Many believe the Merry Men are no longer on the right side of history. Watching Clem tend the party's wounds, Mariel begins to doubt the cause to which she has devoted her life. As the two of them grow closer, one thing is clear. They must prepare to fight for their lives - and for the lives of everybody in the greenwood.

🌳🌲 Sapphic Robin Hood Retelling 🌲🌳

This is my second Lex Croucher book, and I loved it even more than "Gwen & Art are not in Love". At the beginning I found it hard to tell who is who, but it didn't take long until I got to know the characters better and they really grew on me. Though there are quite a few sad, shocking and suspenseful moments, it definitely felt like a cozy and fun read for me. Plus, it's always refreshing to read a book in which queerness is just a normal part of life and nothing to be questioned or struggled with.
Gay forrest adventure at it’s best!
Full of queer rep, witty and sometimes dark humour, lovely characters that I grew really attached to, a lot of tension and all over page-turningly-good. Loved it. And the relationship of Robin Hood and Will Scarlet will forever be canon in my head for every version of „Robin Hood“ I consume from now on. 💚
I absolutely loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My favourite book by Lex yet. I love the different characters and the way they feel so realistic. I also loved the great humour and the feeling of found family, what makes it feel like a kind of save space to me. (Also I’ve rarely cried so much because of sad- and happiness at the same time)
DNF Chapter 9 I don't know. I told myself in the beginning of the year that I would not force myself to finish something. And I won't, because I didn't click with this one. Maybe I'll come back to, but I'll 100% try out the other book the author has. I heard it's better, and I don't want to judge an author by one book I didn't like. Hopefully I'll pick this up again someday.
Simply boring took me way too long to read - the plot was not that good - you can see that this is out of her comfort zone (she stated that in the acknowledgments dont come for me) but it was boring tje romance felt a bit forced which i dont really like and either I’m dumb or one of the tw didn’t make sense
