Interesting worldbuilding and story premise, but nothing all too suprising

When i started this book, i had zero idea what it was about, so i was really intrigued by the premise of a world where vampires were former gods and the successors were created in different ways, the struggles against fate and destiny and the seemingly complex relationship between the gods, vampires, and humans. To be honest, the first third of the book was rather confusing as there was a lot of name dropping and switches between the different perspectives and times so i found myself flipping back and forth between the chapters and the first pages to figure out what was going on 🥹 However, i started enjoying and understanding more as the story went on. When you have two stories who play at different times but are inevitably intertwined, it is so difficult to manage to tell both at the same time in a way both stories are understandable but only start coming together at the end. I think the author did a great job with that here! Though i do think the story was a bit rushed towards the end and couldve been a bit more elaborate and have some more unexpected twists. I enjoyed the diversity of the characters too, and all the different ways and outcomes of what lengths one can go for love. Ive honestly never read a vampire story in a setting like this before, and even though the love story didnt invent anything new and the plottwist/„fight“ they had toward the end was a bit of a letdown, it was quite an entertaining read. If you’re a fan of unique vampire story settings, thus might be for you.

I really don’t know how to rate this

First of all- I really liked the writing style of the author and I liked even more that Leyla is a vampire with a disability. Never read something like it before but especially since the author explained that she gave her own symptoms of her MS disease to her protagonist, I totally felt connected to the princess. But for the story itself… I don’t know. I felt like we got many pretty words that had zero importance. The story was slow; a lot was kinda predictable. And especially the end was just too quick for the rest of the book being so slow. On the other hand I thought the history and lore of the vampires very interesting. Sadly the problems between humans and vampires were only briefly touched, but that could be more for the sequel I guess. So as a conclusion: I kinda enjoyed it but wouldn’t say it’s a necessity to read 😅
