About the book

"The Secret of Chimneys" is a classic work of mystery and international intrigue by the legendary Agatha Christie. At the heart of the story is Chimneys, a historic English country house known for its high-stakes diplomatic gatherings. When a group of politicians and socialites converges for a weekend party, the atmosphere quickly shifts from polite conversation to a web of conspiracy, murder, and theft. The plot centers on Anthony Cade, a man hired to deliver a sensitive memoir and return a stolen diamond. However, he soon finds himself entangled in a much larger plot involving the monarchy of Herzoslovakia and a notorious French jewel thief. This novel marks the first appearance of Superintendent Battle of Scotland Yard, who must untangle a knot of secret identities and hidden motives to solve the crime.Blending elements of the traditional whodunit with a fast-paced thriller, "The Secret of Chimneys" showcases Christie's skill in creating suspenseful narratives filled with unexpected twists. It remains a significant entry in the Golden Age of detective fiction, offering readers a captivating glimpse into the world of political espionage and high-society secrets. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
