The Everlasting war ein überraschend tiefgründiges Buch über tragische Helden, die das Ende ihrer eigenen Geschichte bestimmen möchten. Was mich von der ersten Seite an gefesselt hat, war der bildhafte und wunderschöne Schreibstil, welcher zusammen mit der außergewöhnlichen Erzählart absolut einzigartig war. Diese Geschichte lebt nicht von ihrer Aktion oder ausschweifender Magie, sondern von den starken Figuren in ihren mehr als außergewöhnlichen Leben. Ich habe selten so sehr mit Charakteren mit gefiebert und mit gelitten und die Liebesbeziehung ist eine der am besten und klügsten geschriebenen, die ich jemals gelesen habe. Dieses Buch überrascht beim Lesen mit tiefen Emotionen, klugen Fragen, unvorhersehbaren Wendungen und tragischen Momenten. Mit jeder Seite meint man etwas mehr zu verstehen, nur um dann auf neue Fragen zu stoßen. Für mich eine klare Empfehlung!

Owen ist so ein nerviger Simp alle Charaktere sind so eindimensional ofwfjqoqbdpqb und dass sich die Story permanent wiederholt Ich wollte es lieben aber das war ne toxische Beziehung wo ich gedacht hab dass sie sich bessert bis zum bitteren Schluss Wenn man sich so sehr auf Klischees fokussiert und krampfhaft versucht sie auf den Kopf zu stellen dann kommt man nicht weit 😭😭😭😭
Das ist keine von diesen Romantasys...sonst hätte ich es auch nicht angefaßt. Es ist zugegebenermaßen aber keine typische Epic High Fantasy. Kurzum: Ich wollte mal etwas Anderes. Ich wollte mal Alix E. Harrow. Dieses Buch, welches laut Gerüchteküche große Chancen auf eine deutsche Übersetzung hat, ist ein epischer Liebes- und Zeitschleifenroman. Owen trifft die mittelalterliche Legende Una in einer alternativen historischen Welt, nur dass Owen knapp 1000 Jahre später als Una geboren wurde. Diese Geschichte handelt von der Verklärung und Geschichtsklitterei vergangener Helden. Es sucht nach Wahrheiten, nach etwas was echt und authentisch ist. Die Geschichte ist tragisch, melancholisch und in ihrer Traurigkeit unerreicht schön. Als Leser fühlt man sich wie in einer Legende gefangen, irgendwie ein bischen ent-rückt, sprachlich auf jeden Fall wunderschön. Für mich war das wirklich ein schöner Ausflug mal in etwas anderes und möchte es Euch gern empfehlen. Es wird definitiv nicht das letzte Buch von Alix E. Harrow sein, welches ich anfasse.
I do not pretend that I got to the bottom of everything I read with only one readthrough. I do not pretend that I could give an extended summary of everything that's happened if my life depended on it. But I know that Alix E. Harrow is a genius storyteller. And I know that this is the perfect conclusion to Lady Knight Autumn. And I know that every word had a grip on my heart like nothing else. That I got furious and heart-eyed (sometimes simultaneously) time and again. And that there's no question to me that this is 5 stars. This story is dual POV, and in the audiobook there are two narrators. Which just makes everything perfect. The female voice is Moira Quirk, an all-time favorite of mine. So if you get the chance, listen to the audiobook. Seriously, what can I say that's not already been said? Lady Knight and Bespectacled Historian, loving, fighting, getting thrown through time, dying, rinse and repeat. Everything is grounded in a complex worldbuilding involving time travel and a yew tree. And honestly, even the villain of the piece of multi-layered and you'll struggle to completely hate them. It's a story about stories, a story about villains and heroes, about the written word and if history is reality. On top of all that, it is a very interesting take on gender. Speaking of 'on top' - it's also very sexy at times. Please excuse my repetitive sentence structures.
