Description

Never has DEATH rocked so hard. Terry Pratchett's phenomenal laugh-out-loud Discworld series returns . . .

'If you are unfamiliar with Pratchett's unique blend of philosophical badinage, you are on the threshold of a mind-expanding opportunity' Financial Times

OTHER CHILDREN GET GIVEN XYLOPHONES. SUSAN JUST HAD TO ASK HER GRANDFATHER TO TAKE HIS VEST OFF.

Yes. There's a Death in the family.

It's hard to grow up normally when Grandfather rides a white horse and wields a scythe - especially when you have to take over the family business, and everyone mistakes you for the Tooth Fairy. And especially when you have to face the new and addictive music that has entered Discworld.

It's lawless. It changes people.

It's called Music With Rocks In.

It's got a beat and you can dance to it, but...

It's alive.

And it won't fade away.

"It was sad music. But it waved the sadness like a battle flag. It said the universe had done all it could but you were still alive." "Somewhere, in some other world far away from the Discworld, someone tentatively picked up a musical instrument that echoed the rhythm of their soul. It will never die. It's here to stay." The Discworld remains my favourite holiday destination. Where else could Death be a sympathetic character, who gets depressed and tries to get away from everything so his granddaughter has to pick up the slack and the scythe and try to do his job? I KNOW IT'S RIDICULOUS, REALLY... 'What is?' I SUPPOSE... YOU HAVEN'T GOT A KISS FOR YOUR OLD GRANDAD? Susan stared at him. The blue glow in Death's eyes gradually faded, and as the light died it sucked at her gaze so that it was dragged into the eye sockets and the darkness beyond... ... which went on and on, for ever. There was no word for it. Even eternity was a human idea. Giving it a name gave it a length; admittedly, a very long one. But this darkness was what was left when eternity had given up. It was where Death lived. Alone. Alright then, time to listen to Coco's Proud Corazon and try not to cry.
