ECHOES OF A SHATTERED PAST

Gu Mang has emerged from the Time Mirror a changed man. With his shattered memories recovered, he sets out to distance himself once more from his erstwhile lover, Mo Xi. In turn, Mo Xi finds himself powerless against a Gu Mang who is both so familiar and yet so cruel. Regardless, if the two hope to complete their mission and return to Chonghua, they must work hand in hand to escape the demon-infested island.

Meanwhile, Mo Xi’s own experience in the Time Mirror has left him more certain than ever that some secrets still linger behind Gu Mang’s treasonous defection eight years ago. He’s determined to dig up the truth at any cost—even the cost of his own life.

The sadness of the past, the suffering of the present

Wow, this really was the best volume so far! So many secrets got revealed. We had spice, as well as utter sadness; just the whole range of emotions. I really enjoyed the mission on Bat Island. The complicated relationships in the Yue family are interesting, and it was finally a change of scenery. Back in Chonghua, this almost turned into a detective book, which was great. I loved Mo Xi investigating in the middle of the night 😂 Just, well, how some things turned out wasn't fun at all 😬 All my theories turned out wrong, lol. I am so sorry I called a certain character an idiot 😅 Now I want to congratulate him on this acting skills. There was another character I got kinda wrong. My feelings for him were like 📈📉📈📉📈😂 I am excited to see in which direction this is going now. I really hope we get to see the Liao kingdom. We still know so little of them. Also, I want the characters to be a bit more active. The story so far has been kinda passive since it's mostly about finding out about the past, and like 90% of it takes place in Chonghua/the capital.

To describe this book in 1 Word… Suffering

If you know Meatbun than you know their books are not for the faint hearts and this one… this one is pure suffering and pain from the very first to the very last page. BUT that makes it so good. The way Meatbuns books make you suffer with the characters, the way everything is described in such amazingly beautiful detail… its absolut heart wrenching.

Oh I love it and I hate it at the same time…

Oh I love it and I hate it at the same time…
