Love is the higher law combines two things I like: David Levithan and 9/11 (because i've always been strangely fascinated by this enormous tragedy). This being said, it should be of no surprise that I absolutely adored this novel. I can't quite put my finger on why I liked this book so much. Maybe it was because of the characters or because I think that Levithan has an incredible relatable writing style but as I matter of fact I read this book in almost one go. There is not much to say about the story besides the fact that it shows how 9/11 affected all of us and changed the world. This book deserves a 5* rating for sure. (By the way, I was sososo mad when I figured that gay people are not allowed to donate blood. what the heck?!)

The book was just okay. The characters didn’t really do it for me. I think Claire’s POV didn’t really fit in, I would have liked it better if the book was about Jaspar and Peter only. The scenes happen repeatedly sometimes, told from two different perspectives, which seems unnecessary to me. There isn’t much of a story in this book and it’s more about the feelings of the characters. I liked that an author tried to write a novel about 9/11 but I’ve never been a big fan of Levithan’s writing (based on the books he co-wrote with Rachel Cohn or John Green). Maybe I give one of his other books a try.
