When Murderbot discovers a dead body on Preservation Station, it knows it is going to have to assist station security to determine who the body is (was), how they were killed (that should be relatively straightforward, at least), and why (because apparently that matters to a lot of people-who knew?)
Yes, the unthinkable is about to happen: Murderbot must voluntarily speak to humans!

Nach Network Effect wieder ein kürzeres Abenteuer meiner liebsten, unmenschlich menschlichen SecUnit aka Murderbot. Dieses Mal muss Murderbot dabei helfen, einen Mord aufzuklären. Natürlich wird Murderbot ein bisschen verdächtigt, aber Murderbot kann die Zweifel zerstreuen. Wenn Murderbot etwas mit dem Mord zu tun hätte, hätte man die Leiche gar nicht erst gefunden. Solche Aussagen schaffen natürlich Vertrauen. Weitere Gegner: Zeitmangel (wenig Serienkonsum), wenig Überwachungsmaterial und das Versprechen, sich nicht in die Systeme einzuklinken. Kann das klappen? Wie immer ist es ein Vergnügen, Murderbots inneren Dialogen zu folgen.
✨Sci-Fi Highlight✨
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Es macht einfach Spaß die Geschichte von Murderbot zu verfolgen. Band 6 war wieder genauso unterhaltsam wie die anderen Bände. Ich könnte eine ganze Reihe von Krimis mit Murderbot als Ermittler lesen. Leider fand ich die Sprünge in der Geschichte zwischen Band 5 und Band 6 ein wenig seltsam und zu wenig erklärt. Ich freue mich aber trotzdem auf Band 7.
MurderBot als Detektiv? Auch das kann es! Wobei Media schauen zu bevorzugen wäre. Auch nach sechs Bänden ist es immer noch genial, wie MurderBot erzählt. Noch immer kann ich mich ab dessen trockenem Humor und seinem Zynismus unterhalten. Ausserdem ist es schön, wie sich die Figuren und Beziehungen entwickeln und verändern. Auch innerhalb der Geschichte selbst. Unterdessen ist es wirklich so, dass es ein Ankommen ist, sobald ich ein Buch aus dieser Reihe aufschlage. Ich bin wieder bei MurderBot, wo ich mich wohl und wie daheim fühle. Es würd das wohl nicht so sehen, aber darüber setze ich mich einfach mal hinweg.
Damn, how I missed murderbot. This is a classic murderbot novella (I loved the novel, but I was glad to be back to novella format), with the normal amount of action, snark, murderbot's troubles with social interactions and emotions, and plenty of new character's murderbot had to try to find a way to get along with. I did enjoy that now that murderbot's on Preservation, and has given itself the job of protecting Mensah permanently, we see much more of the original crew again. Sure, they mostly keep in the background and aren't actually involved in the main conflict and action (due to security never having been their jobs or first priority), but it was nice to have them drop in again and again. What was especially cool about it was that they are a tangible way to see murderbot's character development, the way it trusts these humans (if no one else) and goes to them for help (when at one point asking anyone for help would have been unthinkable) and likes to spend time with them (it likes going to the theater, and they have seemingly regular theater hangouts??? This is such a fun development, if in line with its love for TV series). This series just continues to be great!
I have to say, for some reason I don’t think this is happening after the full length novella. Probably since I expected this one to be a mission with ART and see them go on from there. But this was a mission back on Preservation. It was good as always, but just not what I expected. It’s nice to see murderbot get more integrated into the society, while always keeping true to itself.
