Description
The city of Charisat, a tiered monolith of the Ancients' design, sits on the edge of the vast desert known as the Waste. Khat, a member of a humanoid race created by the Ancients to survive in the Waste, and Sagai, his human partner, are relic dealers working in the bottom tiers of society, trying to stay one step ahead of the Trade Inspectors.
When Khat is hired by the all-powerful Warders to find relics believed to be part of one of the Ancients' arcane engines, he, and his party, begin unravelling the mysteries of an age-old technology.
This they expected.
They soon find themselves as the last line of defense between the suffering masses of Charisat and a fanatical cult, bent on unleashing an evil upon the city with an undying thirst for bone.
That, they did not expect.
This updated and revised edition is the author's preferred text.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 „City of Bones“ hatte zwar ab und zu ein paar Längen und die Geschichte wurde eher ruhig erzählt, aber es hat mich trotzdem gefesselt. Wie schon bei den „Murderbot Diaries“ bekommt man nicht jeden Plot ins kleinste Detail erklärt, sondern kann mit den Charakteren rätseln wo das Abenteuer hin führt. Für mich war das Buch ein gelungener Einzelband und ich freu mich auf mehr Bücher von Martha Wells.
Absolut krasses aber geniales Worldbuilding!
Für mich ist das definitiv eher eine 3,5-Sterne-Lektüre! Die Weltbuilding ist einfach unglaublich – wenn du dich komplett in eine neue, extrem detaillierte und lebendige Fantasy-Welt eintauchen möchtest, dann ist das hier genau das Richtige für dich! Es ist so einzigartig und faszinierend! Ich mochte das Buch wirklich gerne, aber da ich besonders tiefgehende, emotionale Charakterentwicklungen liebe, hat es für mich nicht ganz für die vollen 5 Sterne gereicht. Ansonsten wäre es definitiv ein Highlight gewesen!
