This is gonna be a rant. (Also mild spoilers) First up: I have read a couple books by Agatha Christie previous to this one and thought that I'd probably like this one when I picked it up. Since I did really enjoy her other works. I understand why some people might enjoy this, if you're a big fan of Christie's writing style you might even enjoy this even though the story is at most mediocre. A very mediocre, unrealistic and boring love story with not very likeable characters that is. Well, this might just have been the most disappointing read ever for me. It was so bad I wanted to throw the book across the room. It literally bothered me to a point that I skimmed through the second half of the book in hopes of at least some good twist at the end as I know Christie can write. I just didn't want to believe that this was it, that there was not even a bit of excitement in this book. And then the twist came. Finally, after absolutely NOTHING of interest happening for at least 4/5 of the book. And it was good. I liked the twist. I was like well if the twist is good I can at least give this 2 stars maybe. But oh no. The main character then decided to go all crazy and do something very irrational and it just made no sense to me. Like the book could have ended perfectly fine with at least one positive thing about it. Even that was destroyed. I didn't even fully understand what was happening at the end. I think the main dude just full on lost his mind or had some kind of breakdown I didn't quite get it. It was really confusing and odd and he kept on repeating the same thing. Honestly the ending kinda made the rest of the book meaningless because it completely ruined the purpose. Which also means everything I read was pointless. Wasted time honestly.
