Irgendwie schafft es P.D. halt immer mich in ihren Bann zu ziehen. Ich habe bisher jedes Buch von ihr geliebt. 🥰 Hoffe das Buch wird bald übersetzt! Tate und ihr bester Freund Jared sind unzertrennlich, bis sich alles verändert und sie einander nicht einmal mehr Hallo sagen können. Ein "Teenagedrama“ mit Tiefgang, wenig Spice und dem Drang, erwachsen zu werden. Wir bekommen aus Tates Sicht hautnah mit, wie sich Jared distanziert und was es mit ihr macht. Mir hat es teils das Herz gebrochen und auch, wenn der Plot ab einem Zeitpunkt vorhersehbar war, hab ich es geliebt. Klar hätten Gespräche geholfen, aber was erwarten wir von „jungen Erwachsenen“, die sich noch finden müssen? Genau! 🥹 Jareds Vergangenheit ist sehr traurig und regt zum Nachdenken an, womit wir Mitgefühl entwickeln. In manchen Momenten dreht Tate jedoch den Spieß um und verabreicht ihm sein eigenes Gift, womit es die Sache natürlich nicht verbessert. Sie können nicht ohne aber auch nicht miteinander, wobei etliche Schwierigkeiten vorprogrammiert sind. Allerdings freue ich mich genau deshalb auf "Until you", denn dort können wir dazu seine Sicht lesen. 🫶 Wie die Geschichte verläuft und zu einem Ganzen wird, ist schön. Ich mochte das Drama, die Gefühle - DAS zwischen ihnen. Aber, bei aller Liebe ne? Tates Freundin kann mich mal am Popo ... 🫣🤫. Für mich ein Highlight, ich empfehle es weiter und lest die Triggerwarnung. PS: Ich fühlte mich von keiner Szene, als ehemaliges Mobbingopfer getriggert.

Rezension📝: Ich fand dieses Buch richtig mitreißend! Die Spannung zwischen Tate und Jared ist unglaublich intensiv, es knistert förmlich vor Emotionen und hasse‑liebe Dynamik. Tate zeigt wahre Stärke, Jareds Wandlung ist schwer greifbar – aber genau das macht das Story‑Chaos so spannend und süchtig. Ich konnte es kaum beiseitelegen!
Lasst uns ehrlich sein - literarisch maximal 2 Sterne aber mein Teenager-Ich hat‘s geliebt
Ok Karten auf den Tisch, es gibt vieles was an diesem Buch problematisch ist. Slutshaming (generell auch einfach frauenshaming.. ich meine ernsthaft?), Gewalt als Problemlösung (ich wusste nicht das Nasen brechen und an haaren ziehen noch salonfähig ist aber ich nehms hin), insgesamt liest es sich wie eine wattpad story (ich würde mal sagen eine gute, ich habe nicht wirklich Vergleichswerte, Schande über mich) trotzdem kann ich diesem Buch keine schlechte Bewertung geben und mir tuts auch unendlich leid und ein wenig beschämt fühl ich mich aber ich bin mir ebenso zu Tausend Prozent sicher das sich irgendwelche Drogen in dem Papier befinden. Sonst bin ich mit meinem Latein am Ende, wieso mich dieses Buch so abholt oder zumindest mal dazu nötigt die halbe Nacht wach zu bleiben um es zu Ende zu lesen, dabei bin ich innerlich eine Oma und alles nach Mitternacht klingt furchtbar unchristlich um überhaupt noch die Augen an einem Werktag offen zu haben. Beinhaltet friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, abuse, next-door-neighbors und auch bullying. Es ist halt eine Romanze für junge Erwachsene da braucht man sich nichts vormachen, wenn einem das Genre nicht gefällt, dann bitte einfach die Finger von lassen.
It was okay. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. I don't like Jared and I don't like Tate. The choices of them are questionable. I mean.. He hates her because of his mommy and daddy issues. And she smashes his car after she thought he filmed them and spread the video. But it was not the baddest thing I've ever read
Trotz Bullytrope gute Unterhaltung
Auch wenn ich manches nicht ganz logisch fand, Tate zu schnell verziehen hat und ich K.C. nicht sonderlich sympathisch fand, mochte ich die Geschichte. Abzug gibts dafür, dass hier sehr deepe und ernste Themen nur sehr oberflächlich behandelt wurden. Dennoch wars ein Pageturner.
The Drama is real.
This book is exactly what it says. It bully's you until you think you can't take it anymore and then it sprinkles a little bit of that cute stuff over everything, so you won't quit reading. Still it is an enemies to lovers I definitely did not expect. It catches you with sweet little moments and let's you dream of a happyend. Until it crushes you again with drama, just to make everything better 4 chapters later. The characters are great and some were written so well, I laughed, cried and developed anger issues towards a few of them. It was definitely an emotional rollercoaster I enjoyed. But I realized for me personally it was maybe a little to harsh how he treated her.
[ ❗️CONTAINS SPOILER ❗️] “Yesterday lasts forever. Tomorrow comes never. Until you.” “Bully” by Penelope Douglas is a story about Tate and Jared who were best friends back in their childhood. Their relationship turned bad when Jared returned from a summer he spent at his dads place. He completely changed after that summer and started to bully Tate in school. Even though I have mixed feelings about this read, it got me really hooked and I just couldn’t lay it down, because I needed to know how their story and all the drama continues. At first I wanna point out what made me have mixed feelings. Tate - I had to be nearly at the end of the book to have a little bit of sympathy for her. I get that she has a hard time trusting Jared and she’s hurt because of his past behavior, but oh boy- she is so mean to him and her attitude towards like everybody is so mean. Why does she confronts him with the meanest statements, just to reflect herself afterwards but shortly after repeating it again, and again. “My Dad always told me that I could say what I need to say as long as I said it nicely. And f*** me for snarling out my words like a five year old.” I also wanna mention that her violent behavior towards Madoc & Piper was kinda understandable (“Breaking his nose a year ago clearly wasn’t the end of my rope. It was the start of a new one”) but it felt just kinda wrong - Piper is a Bitch but anyway - especially 'cause Tate thinks of herself that she is the “good girl who follows all the rules of her dad” when, in fact, she was behaving like trash most the time. For me personally, her character development started way too late. I really tried to like her, but afterwards I have more negative thoughts about her than positive ones. And also her sarcasm got on my nerves. But I also have to admit there were some parts when she actually was bearable. When she was showing her vulnerable side (the monologue in school, that made me even tear up a bit but she lost me again when she said “Everything still hurts but I know none of it is my fault” even her grandma said that Jared’s faults aren’t the only ones which are hurting her. Or when we got some little breadcrumbs of her and Jared’s past, what their friendship was like when they were kids (the thing with the cemetery, the sleepovers, the tree..) but still, I have mixed feelings about her and most of the time she was just annoying. Jared- so lemme tell you that partly he felt like the mainchar for me. I get that he made Tate feel like shit for a long amount of time and his behavior was ofc not okay. But he - at least - reflected his faults and somehow learned from it and tried to move on. At least he was trying right? All in all Jared was the only char I can think of in a positive way in the end. One of my next reads will be “Until You” and I am really looking forward to get to know his pov. I will point out more things about Jared, once I finished “Until You”. KC and Madoc - I think we can all agree on the fact that KC is the worst friend that Tate could wish for. Ok, I get that Tate went through a lot with her, when the bullying started KC was by her side and stuff. And especially because she knew what Tate went through, she still chooses to make out with Jared in front of her eyes just to make her cheating boyfriend mad and jealous? She could’ve used everyone else, why Jared? She was meeting Jared behind her back and afterwards she pretends like that was never a big deal anyway and continues to behave like a bitch towards Tate. After all I don’t feel like their friendship was that deep anyways, it felt more superficial. Madoc - A dumb clown. At one hand he says that Jared is his best friend but on the other hand he is harassing Tate, although he knows how important she is to Jared. And all of this just to make Jared jealous. That didn’t made much sense to me either. And let’s not talk about that chapter when he asked Tate to go to prom with her, I was loosing my shit at this point and I thought about quitting for a sec lol. In the end I wanna talk about the things that got me really hooked. Even if the characters were mostly annoying (except Jared - sorry not sorry but I fell a bit for him not gonna lie here) they still remain in my thoughts and I remember them. Not everyone in a positive way, but still. They made me feel something and if the characters manage to touch you, it’s a good thing. And the spicyness was spicy in that one tho. It took some time to get there, but you’ll be rewarded lol. The tension that Tate was feeling every time he was around - yeah I felt that too. And I loved it when they encountered each other. Seriously, I loved the spice and the desire they had for each other. Definitely also a reason I got so hooked. I liked the whole atmosphere that the author created. The rain, the storms, the nights. I just really loved the atmosphere and the vibe that Penelope created here. “Bully” definitely had some weak points, but as I said before I just wasn’t able to lay this book down and I still think about it. I devoured this in a very, very short time 'cause yes, I enjoyed it. And partly even loved it. And it made me tear up also.
Als ausschließlich Romantasy-Leser muss ich sagen, dass das Buch doch recht unterhaltsam war. 🙈 Das Buch wurde mir auf TikTok vorgeschlagen und war für mich ein guter Einstieg in die Romance-Welt. ‼️SPOILER: Ich fand einige Charaktere wirklich nervig, vor allem K.C. und dass Tate ihr so einiges hat durchgehen lassen. Auch Madoc fand ich erst zum Ende hin sympathisch. Von Nate will ich gar nicht erst anfangen … Ben hingegen fand ich wirklich süß, und ich habe ihn und Tate schon ein wenig geshippt. Dabei tue ich das eigentlich nie und konzentriere mich eher auf das Hauptcouple. Auch Jareds “Grund“ für sein Verhalten hat mich genervt. Tate hat sein Verhalten ihr gegenüber einfach nicht verdient. Am Ende, beim Einblick zu „Until You“, konnte man ein wenig mehr darüber erfahren, was in seinem Kopf vorgeht, aber auch das hat mich etwas genervt. Er ist für mich ein Hassliebe-Charakter, durch und durch.

“Yesterday lasts forever. Tomorrow comes never. Until you." Jared is truly a bully. To be honest, I had a much harder time forgiving him than Clay [Tryst Six Venom by Penelope Douglas] Clay is most definitely the meaner one, but due to Tate, the bullied one, who is all "kill them with kindness" and hardly ever pushes back, I can't help but hate him a little bit more than Clay and have less kind words for him than for her. His reasons might be understandable - they really are - but in the end I still have complicated feelings towards him. I still pretty much enjoy the book. I hope "Until You" will help me like and understand him more. However, I think Tates character development is amazing - from this moment when she decides she doesn't want to be pushed around by Jared anymore until she emerges her own path. Though and that has to be said, I think she should have pushed back more. Well, there is a scene close to the end in which she finally gives Jared some contra because she is pushed over the edge. My favorite character is Madoc, and yes, he is just a side character here, but I've already fallen for him, and I cannot wait to learn more about him in his and Fallons book (I can't wait to meet Fallon!) - Rival. I think this is going to be amazing! In the end Bully is a very good bully romance. It is not my favorite book by Penelope Douglas, probably my least fave so far, but it's still a good one and still a good book. I'm very excited to continue this series. 4/5⭐️
Gut Unterhaltsam
Eine Art grenzenlose Welt der Teenager. Dass Jugendliche allein ohne ihre Eltern leben, ist noch nachvollziehbar. Dass fast alle Jugendliche im Alter von 17 Jahren einen Führerschein besitzen und an verschiedenen Autorennen sorglos teilnehmen ist eher unwahrscheinlich. Wenn Gewalt, auf Gewalt trifft ist auch keine beste Lösung! Es scheint, dass niemand anwesend ist, der sie aufhalten könnte/ sollte. Vielleicht bin ich da noch etwas altmodisch 👵 Die Geschichte erschien mir nicht besonders glaubwürdig. 🤷🏼♀️ + Was den romantischen Anteil betrifft, hier möchte ich nichts Negatives sagen, der war gut. 💯 Als Dark Romance , ich = große Dark Romance Liebhaberin (nicht ganz) würde es irgendwie nicht bezeichnen, als einfacher Roman auch nicht. Ich würde sagen, es war von allem genug vorhanden.❤️🔥 Die beiden hatten schwierige Vergangenheiten, besonders die von Jared.
I loved it don't judge me
I never thought that I would be into this bully trope but I absolutely LOVED it and it made me wanna read more of Penelope Douglas. I love love love the characters. The way tate started to defend herself and all the intrigues between jared and tate made me giggle a lot of times. Their love hate relationship was so hot and well written. Even if you aren't into bullying, you need to give this book a try!
Darum geht's: Tate und Jared sind Nachbarn und waren einmal sehr gute Freunde, bis er sich eines Tages komplett gewandelt hat und Tate nur noch schlecht behandelt. Er macht ihr das Leben komplett zur Hölle und Tate weiß einfach nicht wieso. Drei Jahre lang hassen sie sich nun, doch Ereignisse führen dazu, dass die beiden sich irgendwann doch wieder nähern. Ob sie wohl wieder befreundet sein können... oder gar mehr? Meinung: Das Buch ist echt der Hammer. Es handelt sich hier um "Friends to Enemies to Lovers" und ich finde es gut, dass die beiden tatsächlich wie Feinde sind. Was hier alles passiert, was sie sich hier gegenseitig an den Kopf werfen ist echt heftig. Ich finde es auch gut, dass sich die Fehde sehr lange zieht und nicht schon so schnell legt. Umso krasser ist dann die Spannung und die Gefühle zwischen den beiden. Was ich nicht hundertprozentig gefühlt habe, war der Grund, weshalb sich Jared so benommen hat. Er hatte keinen wirklichen Grund Tate das (Schul-)Leben so zur Hölle zu machen. Was er ihr da alles angetan hat, war total unbegründet. Aber alles in allem ein sehr gutes Buch, was ich wirklich sehr empfehlen kann.
Lots of mixed emotions.
I think Tate was very well defined as a character and her development was really exciting to watch. I also found the realistic portrayal of bullying fascinating. From her perspective, on the other hand, I found Jared very one-dimensional and often unbelievable. He keeps insisting that it was always Tate, but makes up with loads of different women? I don't know. Nevertheless, I have to say that I enjoyed reading the book, even if I found it a bit difficult to get into. Spoiler: I've already read Jared's book and I have to say that I liked him a lot better afterwards.

Charaktere unglaubwürdig, Rahmen und Gespräche völlig überspitzt, FMC .. hat mich sehr genervt, spätstens als sie beim „Autorennen“ (da geht‘s ja schon los..) auf ein anderes Mädchen körperlich losgeht (und der MMC ist ganz „amüsant“ findet… die Typen alle völlig balla, klar immer durchtrainiert und hot „like a model/ like a filmstar“, ja genau aber alle komplett kaputt, und das noch vorm college. Ich habs abgebrochen, war auch kaum spannend. Der Anfang war dennoch ganz vielversprechend und der Anstieg der Anziehung ganz ok, daher wenigstens 2 Sterne.
Die Auflösung war mir leider nicht einleuchtend
Vielleicht hab ich einfach das Glück privilegiert zu sein und deswegen den Schmerz (Gott sei Dank) und seine Reaktion darauf nicht zu verstehen. Ich hätte es vielleicht besser nachempfinden können wenn wir hier von einem viel kleineren Zeitraum gesprochen hätte in dem Jared Tate das Leben zur Hölle gemacht hat. Aber mehrere Jahre? Nope, das geht mir nicht rein. An sich wars ganz süß. Jahrelange Freundschaft wird zu Hass, wird zu Liebe. Die anderen Charaktere waren gut ausgearbeitet und glaubwürdig, außer die beste Freundin die plötzlich auch was mit Jared hatte. Das war sehr seltsam und unnötig. Aber ja, das war meine letzte Bully Romance. Mehr brauch ich in meinem Leben nicht.
Eines der schwächeren Bücher von Penelope Douglas. Ich muss sagen, ich wurde Ende letzten Jahres sehr in den Bann gezogen von Penelope Douglas. Ich war wirklich so gehyped endlich wieder einen Roman von ihr zu lesen. Und dann auch noch Enemies-to-Lovers?! Ich war sofort in der Geschichte. Tatum und ihre Probleme an der Highschool waren sofort fesselnd. Ich war so gespannt, was wohl passieren würde, sobald Tate wieder zurück nachhause kommen würde. Penelope Douglas schafft es wirklich, dass ich mir so manchmal die Haare gerauft habe. Als K.C. und Jared plötzlich was mit einander hatten, hat mich echt richtig geschockt. Ich konnte es mir einfach nicht vorstellen, wie diese Situation wohl gut ausgehen konnte. Ich habe die Spannung zwischen Jared und Tate wirklich geliebt. Man hatte tatsächlich das Gefühl, dass Jared ein echtes Problem mir unserer Protagonistin hat. Anfänglich konnte ich mir nicht vorstellen, was das Problem sein könnte. Aber die Hintergrundgeschichte rund um Jared und seinen gewalttätigen Vater und seinen Bruder war echt schockierend. Eine meiner Lieblingsscenen war bei dem Wettrennen. Ich bin kein riesiger Fan von dem „Ich bin nicht wie andere Mädchen“-Trope, aber dieser Moment indem Tate einfach dieses Rennen gefahren ist, weil es ihre absolute Leidenschaft ist, hat mich so gepackt. Es war wirklich ein toller Moment für sie, allen zu zeigen, zu was sie fähig ist. Gegen Ende hat mir die Autorin fast das Herz gebrochen. Ich war wirklich in einer so schlechten Stimmung und wollte unbedingt wissen, was das alles zu bedeuten hat. Ich sag nur „Handyvideo“. Zunächst war ich wirklich davon überzeugt, dass Jared ein verdammt guter Lügner ist und er Tate wirklich von tiefstem Herzen hasst. Ich war so wütend auf ihn. Und auf alle, die sich an Gossip ergötzen. Ich wäre so gerne ins Buch gestiegen und hatte einige Leute angeschrien. Am Ende ist Tate einfach 17 Jahre alt und alle haben sich quasi strafbar gemacht alleine dieses Video zu besitzen. Die Auflösung hat mich erleichtert, aber war nicht wirklich überraschend. Leider gab es keine Nebencharaktere, den ich wirklich sympathisch fand. Sogar K.C. ging mir eher auf die Nerven und auch alle anderen Figuren haben sich nicht gerade von ihrer besten Seite gezeigt oder waren eher sehr flach. Alles in allem bekommt das Buch von mir 4 Sterne, weil mir einfach mehr die Interaktion zwischen den Hauptfiguren gefehlt hat, bevor sie dann ihr Happy End bekommen haben.

Jerad's und Tate's Geschichte hat mich sehr mitgenommen, ich fand es sehr berührend wie sie mit der Zeit immer mehr aneinander geraten und mehr Gefühle ans Licht kommen. Zu Beginn konnte ich Jerad nicht wirklich verstehen wie so er sie so behandelt und warum er manche sachen tat, um so mehr freue ich mich darauf das Buch noch mal aus seiner Perspektive zu lesen. Jerad's Hintergrundgeschichte, war sehr berührend, wie auch die von Tate. Es hat mich sehr an eine Wattpad Geschichte erinnert, von der Story line her, und ich verstehe warum manche das Buch nicht mögen. Ich fand es in den ersten 200-300 Seiten nicht so spannend und es ging in ihrer Beziehung nicht so voran. mein innerer Teenager hätte das Buch geliebt wenn der Anfang nicht so lang ginge und das Ende nicht so kurz.

Sie können nicht ohne aber auch nicht miteinander, wobei etliche Schwierigkeiten vorprogrammiert sind. Allerdings freue ich mich genau deshalb auf "Until you", denn dort können wir dazu seine Sicht lesen. 🫶 Wie die Geschichte verläuft und zu einem Ganzen wird, ist schön. Ich mochte das Drama, die Gefühle - DAS zwischen ihnen. Aber, bei aller Liebe ne? Tates Freundin kann mich mal am Popo ... 🫣🤫. Für mich ein Highlight, ich empfehle es weiter und lest die Triggerwarnung. PS: Ich fühlte mich von keiner Szene, als ehemaliges Mobbingopfer getriggert.

Rezension📝: Ich fand dieses Buch richtig mitreißend! Die Spannung zwischen Tate und Jared ist unglaublich intensiv, es knistert förmlich vor Emotionen und hasse‑liebe Dynamik. Tate zeigt wahre Stärke, Jareds Wandlung ist schwer greifbar – aber genau das macht das Story‑Chaos so spannend und süchtig. Ich konnte es kaum beiseitelegen!

Ok Karten auf den Tisch, es gibt vieles was an diesem Buch problematisch ist. Slutshaming (generell auch einfach frauenshaming.. ich meine ernsthaft?), Gewalt als Problemlösung (ich wusste nicht das Nasen brechen und an haaren ziehen noch salonfähig ist aber ich nehms hin), insgesamt liest es sich wie eine wattpad story (ich würde mal sagen eine gute, ich habe nicht wirklich Vergleichswerte, Schande über mich) trotzdem kann ich diesem Buch keine schlechte Bewertung geben und mir tuts auch unendlich leid und ein wenig beschämt fühl ich mich aber ich bin mir ebenso zu Tausend Prozent sicher das sich irgendwelche Drogen in dem Papier befinden. Sonst bin ich mit meinem Latein am Ende, wieso mich dieses Buch so abholt oder zumindest mal dazu nötigt die halbe Nacht wach zu bleiben um es zu Ende zu lesen, dabei bin ich innerlich eine Oma und alles nach Mitternacht klingt furchtbar unchristlich um überhaupt noch die Augen an einem Werktag offen zu haben. Beinhaltet friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, abuse, next-door-neighbors und auch bullying. Es ist halt eine Romanze für junge Erwachsene da braucht man sich nichts vormachen, wenn einem das Genre nicht gefällt, dann bitte einfach die Finger von lassen.
It was okay. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. I don't like Jared and I don't like Tate. The choices of them are questionable. I mean.. He hates her because of his mommy and daddy issues. And she smashes his car after she thought he filmed them and spread the video. But it was not the baddest thing I've ever read
Trotz Bullytrope gute Unterhaltung
Auch wenn ich manches nicht ganz logisch fand, Tate zu schnell verziehen hat und ich K.C. nicht sonderlich sympathisch fand, mochte ich die Geschichte. Abzug gibts dafür, dass hier sehr deepe und ernste Themen nur sehr oberflächlich behandelt wurden. Dennoch wars ein Pageturner.
The Drama is real.
This book is exactly what it says. It bully's you until you think you can't take it anymore and then it sprinkles a little bit of that cute stuff over everything, so you won't quit reading. Still it is an enemies to lovers I definitely did not expect. It catches you with sweet little moments and let's you dream of a happyend. Until it crushes you again with drama, just to make everything better 4 chapters later. The characters are great and some were written so well, I laughed, cried and developed anger issues towards a few of them. It was definitely an emotional rollercoaster I enjoyed. But I realized for me personally it was maybe a little to harsh how he treated her.
[ ❗️CONTAINS SPOILER ❗️] “Yesterday lasts forever. Tomorrow comes never. Until you.” “Bully” by Penelope Douglas is a story about Tate and Jared who were best friends back in their childhood. Their relationship turned bad when Jared returned from a summer he spent at his dads place. He completely changed after that summer and started to bully Tate in school. Even though I have mixed feelings about this read, it got me really hooked and I just couldn’t lay it down, because I needed to know how their story and all the drama continues. At first I wanna point out what made me have mixed feelings. Tate - I had to be nearly at the end of the book to have a little bit of sympathy for her. I get that she has a hard time trusting Jared and she’s hurt because of his past behavior, but oh boy- she is so mean to him and her attitude towards like everybody is so mean. Why does she confronts him with the meanest statements, just to reflect herself afterwards but shortly after repeating it again, and again. “My Dad always told me that I could say what I need to say as long as I said it nicely. And f*** me for snarling out my words like a five year old.” I also wanna mention that her violent behavior towards Madoc & Piper was kinda understandable (“Breaking his nose a year ago clearly wasn’t the end of my rope. It was the start of a new one”) but it felt just kinda wrong - Piper is a Bitch but anyway - especially 'cause Tate thinks of herself that she is the “good girl who follows all the rules of her dad” when, in fact, she was behaving like trash most the time. For me personally, her character development started way too late. I really tried to like her, but afterwards I have more negative thoughts about her than positive ones. And also her sarcasm got on my nerves. But I also have to admit there were some parts when she actually was bearable. When she was showing her vulnerable side (the monologue in school, that made me even tear up a bit but she lost me again when she said “Everything still hurts but I know none of it is my fault” even her grandma said that Jared’s faults aren’t the only ones which are hurting her. Or when we got some little breadcrumbs of her and Jared’s past, what their friendship was like when they were kids (the thing with the cemetery, the sleepovers, the tree..) but still, I have mixed feelings about her and most of the time she was just annoying. Jared- so lemme tell you that partly he felt like the mainchar for me. I get that he made Tate feel like shit for a long amount of time and his behavior was ofc not okay. But he - at least - reflected his faults and somehow learned from it and tried to move on. At least he was trying right? All in all Jared was the only char I can think of in a positive way in the end. One of my next reads will be “Until You” and I am really looking forward to get to know his pov. I will point out more things about Jared, once I finished “Until You”. KC and Madoc - I think we can all agree on the fact that KC is the worst friend that Tate could wish for. Ok, I get that Tate went through a lot with her, when the bullying started KC was by her side and stuff. And especially because she knew what Tate went through, she still chooses to make out with Jared in front of her eyes just to make her cheating boyfriend mad and jealous? She could’ve used everyone else, why Jared? She was meeting Jared behind her back and afterwards she pretends like that was never a big deal anyway and continues to behave like a bitch towards Tate. After all I don’t feel like their friendship was that deep anyways, it felt more superficial. Madoc - A dumb clown. At one hand he says that Jared is his best friend but on the other hand he is harassing Tate, although he knows how important she is to Jared. And all of this just to make Jared jealous. That didn’t made much sense to me either. And let’s not talk about that chapter when he asked Tate to go to prom with her, I was loosing my shit at this point and I thought about quitting for a sec lol. In the end I wanna talk about the things that got me really hooked. Even if the characters were mostly annoying (except Jared - sorry not sorry but I fell a bit for him not gonna lie here) they still remain in my thoughts and I remember them. Not everyone in a positive way, but still. They made me feel something and if the characters manage to touch you, it’s a good thing. And the spicyness was spicy in that one tho. It took some time to get there, but you’ll be rewarded lol. The tension that Tate was feeling every time he was around - yeah I felt that too. And I loved it when they encountered each other. Seriously, I loved the spice and the desire they had for each other. Definitely also a reason I got so hooked. I liked the whole atmosphere that the author created. The rain, the storms, the nights. I just really loved the atmosphere and the vibe that Penelope created here. “Bully” definitely had some weak points, but as I said before I just wasn’t able to lay this book down and I still think about it. I devoured this in a very, very short time 'cause yes, I enjoyed it. And partly even loved it. And it made me tear up also.
Als ausschließlich Romantasy-Leser muss ich sagen, dass das Buch doch recht unterhaltsam war. 🙈 Das Buch wurde mir auf TikTok vorgeschlagen und war für mich ein guter Einstieg in die Romance-Welt. ‼️SPOILER: Ich fand einige Charaktere wirklich nervig, vor allem K.C. und dass Tate ihr so einiges hat durchgehen lassen. Auch Madoc fand ich erst zum Ende hin sympathisch. Von Nate will ich gar nicht erst anfangen … Ben hingegen fand ich wirklich süß, und ich habe ihn und Tate schon ein wenig geshippt. Dabei tue ich das eigentlich nie und konzentriere mich eher auf das Hauptcouple. Auch Jareds “Grund“ für sein Verhalten hat mich genervt. Tate hat sein Verhalten ihr gegenüber einfach nicht verdient. Am Ende, beim Einblick zu „Until You“, konnte man ein wenig mehr darüber erfahren, was in seinem Kopf vorgeht, aber auch das hat mich etwas genervt. Er ist für mich ein Hassliebe-Charakter, durch und durch.

“Yesterday lasts forever. Tomorrow comes never. Until you." Jared is truly a bully. To be honest, I had a much harder time forgiving him than Clay [Tryst Six Venom by Penelope Douglas] Clay is most definitely the meaner one, but due to Tate, the bullied one, who is all "kill them with kindness" and hardly ever pushes back, I can't help but hate him a little bit more than Clay and have less kind words for him than for her. His reasons might be understandable - they really are - but in the end I still have complicated feelings towards him. I still pretty much enjoy the book. I hope "Until You" will help me like and understand him more. However, I think Tates character development is amazing - from this moment when she decides she doesn't want to be pushed around by Jared anymore until she emerges her own path. Though and that has to be said, I think she should have pushed back more. Well, there is a scene close to the end in which she finally gives Jared some contra because she is pushed over the edge. My favorite character is Madoc, and yes, he is just a side character here, but I've already fallen for him, and I cannot wait to learn more about him in his and Fallons book (I can't wait to meet Fallon!) - Rival. I think this is going to be amazing! In the end Bully is a very good bully romance. It is not my favorite book by Penelope Douglas, probably my least fave so far, but it's still a good one and still a good book. I'm very excited to continue this series. 4/5⭐️
Gut Unterhaltsam
Eine Art grenzenlose Welt der Teenager. Dass Jugendliche allein ohne ihre Eltern leben, ist noch nachvollziehbar. Dass fast alle Jugendliche im Alter von 17 Jahren einen Führerschein besitzen und an verschiedenen Autorennen sorglos teilnehmen ist eher unwahrscheinlich. Wenn Gewalt, auf Gewalt trifft ist auch keine beste Lösung! Es scheint, dass niemand anwesend ist, der sie aufhalten könnte/ sollte. Vielleicht bin ich da noch etwas altmodisch 👵 Die Geschichte erschien mir nicht besonders glaubwürdig. 🤷🏼♀️ + Was den romantischen Anteil betrifft, hier möchte ich nichts Negatives sagen, der war gut. 💯 Als Dark Romance , ich = große Dark Romance Liebhaberin (nicht ganz) würde es irgendwie nicht bezeichnen, als einfacher Roman auch nicht. Ich würde sagen, es war von allem genug vorhanden.❤️🔥 Die beiden hatten schwierige Vergangenheiten, besonders die von Jared.
I loved it don't judge me
I never thought that I would be into this bully trope but I absolutely LOVED it and it made me wanna read more of Penelope Douglas. I love love love the characters. The way tate started to defend herself and all the intrigues between jared and tate made me giggle a lot of times. Their love hate relationship was so hot and well written. Even if you aren't into bullying, you need to give this book a try!
Darum geht's: Tate und Jared sind Nachbarn und waren einmal sehr gute Freunde, bis er sich eines Tages komplett gewandelt hat und Tate nur noch schlecht behandelt. Er macht ihr das Leben komplett zur Hölle und Tate weiß einfach nicht wieso. Drei Jahre lang hassen sie sich nun, doch Ereignisse führen dazu, dass die beiden sich irgendwann doch wieder nähern. Ob sie wohl wieder befreundet sein können... oder gar mehr? Meinung: Das Buch ist echt der Hammer. Es handelt sich hier um "Friends to Enemies to Lovers" und ich finde es gut, dass die beiden tatsächlich wie Feinde sind. Was hier alles passiert, was sie sich hier gegenseitig an den Kopf werfen ist echt heftig. Ich finde es auch gut, dass sich die Fehde sehr lange zieht und nicht schon so schnell legt. Umso krasser ist dann die Spannung und die Gefühle zwischen den beiden. Was ich nicht hundertprozentig gefühlt habe, war der Grund, weshalb sich Jared so benommen hat. Er hatte keinen wirklichen Grund Tate das (Schul-)Leben so zur Hölle zu machen. Was er ihr da alles angetan hat, war total unbegründet. Aber alles in allem ein sehr gutes Buch, was ich wirklich sehr empfehlen kann.
Lots of mixed emotions.
I think Tate was very well defined as a character and her development was really exciting to watch. I also found the realistic portrayal of bullying fascinating. From her perspective, on the other hand, I found Jared very one-dimensional and often unbelievable. He keeps insisting that it was always Tate, but makes up with loads of different women? I don't know. Nevertheless, I have to say that I enjoyed reading the book, even if I found it a bit difficult to get into. Spoiler: I've already read Jared's book and I have to say that I liked him a lot better afterwards.

Charaktere unglaubwürdig, Rahmen und Gespräche völlig überspitzt, FMC .. hat mich sehr genervt, spätstens als sie beim „Autorennen“ (da geht‘s ja schon los..) auf ein anderes Mädchen körperlich losgeht (und der MMC ist ganz „amüsant“ findet… die Typen alle völlig balla, klar immer durchtrainiert und hot „like a model/ like a filmstar“, ja genau aber alle komplett kaputt, und das noch vorm college. Ich habs abgebrochen, war auch kaum spannend. Der Anfang war dennoch ganz vielversprechend und der Anstieg der Anziehung ganz ok, daher wenigstens 2 Sterne.
Die Auflösung war mir leider nicht einleuchtend
Vielleicht hab ich einfach das Glück privilegiert zu sein und deswegen den Schmerz (Gott sei Dank) und seine Reaktion darauf nicht zu verstehen. Ich hätte es vielleicht besser nachempfinden können wenn wir hier von einem viel kleineren Zeitraum gesprochen hätte in dem Jared Tate das Leben zur Hölle gemacht hat. Aber mehrere Jahre? Nope, das geht mir nicht rein. An sich wars ganz süß. Jahrelange Freundschaft wird zu Hass, wird zu Liebe. Die anderen Charaktere waren gut ausgearbeitet und glaubwürdig, außer die beste Freundin die plötzlich auch was mit Jared hatte. Das war sehr seltsam und unnötig. Aber ja, das war meine letzte Bully Romance. Mehr brauch ich in meinem Leben nicht.
Eines der schwächeren Bücher von Penelope Douglas. Ich muss sagen, ich wurde Ende letzten Jahres sehr in den Bann gezogen von Penelope Douglas. Ich war wirklich so gehyped endlich wieder einen Roman von ihr zu lesen. Und dann auch noch Enemies-to-Lovers?! Ich war sofort in der Geschichte. Tatum und ihre Probleme an der Highschool waren sofort fesselnd. Ich war so gespannt, was wohl passieren würde, sobald Tate wieder zurück nachhause kommen würde. Penelope Douglas schafft es wirklich, dass ich mir so manchmal die Haare gerauft habe. Als K.C. und Jared plötzlich was mit einander hatten, hat mich echt richtig geschockt. Ich konnte es mir einfach nicht vorstellen, wie diese Situation wohl gut ausgehen konnte. Ich habe die Spannung zwischen Jared und Tate wirklich geliebt. Man hatte tatsächlich das Gefühl, dass Jared ein echtes Problem mir unserer Protagonistin hat. Anfänglich konnte ich mir nicht vorstellen, was das Problem sein könnte. Aber die Hintergrundgeschichte rund um Jared und seinen gewalttätigen Vater und seinen Bruder war echt schockierend. Eine meiner Lieblingsscenen war bei dem Wettrennen. Ich bin kein riesiger Fan von dem „Ich bin nicht wie andere Mädchen“-Trope, aber dieser Moment indem Tate einfach dieses Rennen gefahren ist, weil es ihre absolute Leidenschaft ist, hat mich so gepackt. Es war wirklich ein toller Moment für sie, allen zu zeigen, zu was sie fähig ist. Gegen Ende hat mir die Autorin fast das Herz gebrochen. Ich war wirklich in einer so schlechten Stimmung und wollte unbedingt wissen, was das alles zu bedeuten hat. Ich sag nur „Handyvideo“. Zunächst war ich wirklich davon überzeugt, dass Jared ein verdammt guter Lügner ist und er Tate wirklich von tiefstem Herzen hasst. Ich war so wütend auf ihn. Und auf alle, die sich an Gossip ergötzen. Ich wäre so gerne ins Buch gestiegen und hatte einige Leute angeschrien. Am Ende ist Tate einfach 17 Jahre alt und alle haben sich quasi strafbar gemacht alleine dieses Video zu besitzen. Die Auflösung hat mich erleichtert, aber war nicht wirklich überraschend. Leider gab es keine Nebencharaktere, den ich wirklich sympathisch fand. Sogar K.C. ging mir eher auf die Nerven und auch alle anderen Figuren haben sich nicht gerade von ihrer besten Seite gezeigt oder waren eher sehr flach. Alles in allem bekommt das Buch von mir 4 Sterne, weil mir einfach mehr die Interaktion zwischen den Hauptfiguren gefehlt hat, bevor sie dann ihr Happy End bekommen haben.

Jerad's und Tate's Geschichte hat mich sehr mitgenommen, ich fand es sehr berührend wie sie mit der Zeit immer mehr aneinander geraten und mehr Gefühle ans Licht kommen. Zu Beginn konnte ich Jerad nicht wirklich verstehen wie so er sie so behandelt und warum er manche sachen tat, um so mehr freue ich mich darauf das Buch noch mal aus seiner Perspektive zu lesen. Jerad's Hintergrundgeschichte, war sehr berührend, wie auch die von Tate. Es hat mich sehr an eine Wattpad Geschichte erinnert, von der Story line her, und ich verstehe warum manche das Buch nicht mögen. Ich fand es in den ersten 200-300 Seiten nicht so spannend und es ging in ihrer Beziehung nicht so voran. mein innerer Teenager hätte das Buch geliebt wenn der Anfang nicht so lang ginge und das Ende nicht so kurz.
