Die Geschichte funktioniert, wäre aber in der Form nicht nötig gewesen
Da dieses Buch sowohl die Geschichte "Biss zum Morgengrauen" (welche es auch als eigenständiges Buch gibt) als auch "Biss in alle Ewigkeit" enthält, werde ich hier nur letztere bewerten. "Biss in alle Ewigkeit" soll laut der Autorin beweisen, dass die Geschichte auch mit umgekehrten Geschlechterrollen funktioniert und ich finde, dass dies sehr gut gelungen ist. Durch die umgekehrten Geschlechterrollen wurden die Charakterzüge einiger Figuren ein wenig angepasst, was meiner Meinung nach im Vorwort von der Autorin nachvollziehbar erklärt wurde. Ich finde, dass die Geschichte auf diese Weise auch funktioniert hat und besonders das alternative Ende fand ich sehr gut. Dennoch gefällt mir das Original mit Bella und Edward deutlich besser und ich finde, dass es diese Geschichte nicht gebraucht hätte.
Für mich hat die Liebesgeschichte so leider nicht funktioniert. Als Jubiläumsausgabe hätte ich mir viel mehr eine Story von einem der Cullens oder der Volturi gewünscht. Aber nicht nur die Liebesgeschichte war für mich merkwürdig, auch die ganzen Charaktere. Emmet als Frau? Ging zum Beispiel gar nicht. Bei den Klassenkameraden war es okay und auch bei Jacob, er hatte ja kaum ein Auftritt. Da ich erst vor kurzem Band 1 gelesen habe, war ich dann doch froh, dass es Änderungen zur Story gab. Diese andere Sichtweise war interessant, aber auch nicht ganz rund für mich.
Ich habe (diesmal) nur ,,Biss in alle Ewigkeit“ aus diesem Doppelband gelesen.
Anfangs dachte ich „Ein bisschen langweilig ist es schon, die selbe Geschichte nur mit anderen Protas zu lesen“, aber spätestens das Ende hat mich dann überzeugt. Während des Lesens habe ich immer wieder die alten Protagonisten vor Augen gehabt, was auch dadurch erleichtert wurde, dass die Anfangsbuchstaben der Namen gleich blieben (aus Edward wurde Edythe, aus Bella wurde Beau…). Es war sehr schön nach längerer Zeit mal wieder in die Geschichte einzutauchen und Forks und seine Bewohner erneut kennenzulernen. Mir hat das Ambiente wieder super gefallen und ich war voll im Twilight-Fieber. Das Ende war sehr überraschend und bis auf den Teil mit Beaus Eltern hat es mir gut gefallen. Hier einmal eine weibliche Protagonistin (Edythe) als die starke Heldin zu haben, fand ich sehr toll, da ja doch in Büchern oft eher die Männer die kämpferischen Übersinnlichen sind. Alles in allem eine tolle Möglichkeit, um noch einmal in die vertraute Welt von Twilight einzutauchen und eine schöne Zusatzstory für alle Biss-Fans!
I guess by now we all know that a new Twilight book was written and published. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Twilight a special double-feature book including a whole new story, Life and Death, was brought to us by the wonderful Stephenie Meyer with the help of Little Brown books. When I heard that there was a special edition coming out I have to admit I was hoping to finally get the chance to read Midnight Sun, which would have been published many years ago already if the manuscript hasn't been hacked by some morons and uploaded on the internet so that everyone could download and read it for free. But when I've heard that Stephenie Meyer kind of rewrote the whole Twilight story, but with swapped genders, I wasn't quite sure what to think about it. Honestly I was disappointed and I first thought that it was kind of like a joke because duh? Who would want to read the whole story except for Bella now being a guy and Edward being a girl? That sounded all so weird to me and after reading like a chapter or so I knew I didn't want to read it. The book is also very expensive and I wasn't willing to pay so much money for something I wasn't really intrested in. But then, after a couple of months, I kept coming across the book. I saw it on instagram like everywhere, I saw it on youtube, I saw it on Amazon, in our local bookstore - I kind of felt like the book was haunting me haha You have to know thatI used to be very obsessed with Twilight. I was so obsessed I even flew to Forks, well actually to Seattle, from there to Port Angeles and then I took a bus to Forks and of course I've visited La Push, took the Twilight tour, bought so much merchandise I can't even remember how much money I must have spent that one weekend in Forks. It was one of the greatest adventures ever. I had so much fun and seeing all the places that kind of inspired Stephenie Meyer to write one of my favorite book series ever was just awesome. I also flew to London for one day to meet Peter Facinelli (fangirl alert) and Alex Meraz. Like I said, I used to be so obsessed with Twilight I can't even. I still like to watch the movies from time to time though even though the acting in the first one was like really really bad and not to mention that I don't like Kristen Stewart at all and that she is - at least in my opinion - the worst actress ever. But howsoever, this has nothing much to do with the book (oh boy this is going to be a long review, I hope you guys don't mind). So when my parents ask me to write a christmas present wish list of course I wrote down the new Twilight book which I happily found under the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. I was so excited to read it. Alone holding the book in my hand and looking at the book cover, rereading a couple of pages from the actual Twilight book brought back so many great memories it almost made me cry. I can't believe it has already been ten years. I'm getting so old ... When I started the book I was thrown back into this world right away. It felt like going back in time. Reading the book made me so emotional and nostalgic and even though I said I would never want to read it, I was so happy I've changed my mind. I know a lot of people keep complaining and hating but you know what? Authors should write about things they want to write about not things their potentional readers would eventually like to read. Writing a book is a whole lot of work and this book deserves so much more credit than it actually gets. It might not be the best book on earth, it might not be a masterpiece but wasn't it soo nice reading the book back then? Staying up all night because you could not get enough of Edward? Or Jacob, whatever team you were in? Twilight was actutally the book that got me into reading in the first place. It was also the first book that kept me awake all night even though it was a school night. I could not put it down because it was just soooo good. So if Stephenie Meyer really wanted to write this, as she says in the forword of the book, that is totally fine and it's totally her decicion. And only her decision. If you don't like it, don't bother to buy or read it. It doesn't matter. As Stephenie Meyer says she is happy with the result and I have to say that I enjoyed reading it very much in the end. Well, Stephenie Meyer changed much more than the genders. I didn't like all the names, they were weird and stuff but they are just name, so who cares? This book is funny, weird, like very weird and so fascinating. It took me some time to get used to it. It was really confusing at the beginning because Bella was Beau now and Edward was Edythe and Carlisle wasn't Carlisle but Carine and so on. It was very confusing and like I said, the names were kind of weird but nevertheless I had so much fun reading this book. I still think that Bella as a guy, all clumsy and stuff, isn't that appealing, I would not want to date a guy who falls and trips all the time. It was weird that actually the girl took care of the boy, that she saved him so so many times, that she actually gave him a piggyback. That was all so weird but fascinating at the same time. This new version made Twilight fresh and exciting again and as I said before, it brought back so many memories. I laughed so much reading this one, my heart was bumping so hard it was great. And the end - the end was really unexpected. So if you are a Twilight fan and still struggling if you should get it or not - you should. Even if you don't like the story that much, it's just great going back in time to read this wonderful story all over again - for the very first time, since it's quite different to the original Twilight story.
