Kayleigh is good at her job, and in her colleagues she finds a group of friends, even a new girlfriend. For the first time in her life, the future seems bright . . . But soon the job begins to shift Kayleigh's world in alarming ways. In the glare of the screen, how long can Kayleigh hold on to her humanity?

Hanna Bervoets' stunning novel We Had To Remove This Post is translated from the Dutch by Emma Rault.

'This novel gives us an acid glimpse into a new form of labor existing today . . . Fascinating and disturbing' - Ling Ma, author of Severance

Disappointing, not what the blurb suggests

While both the title as well as the plot surrounding the issues stemming from being a content moderator for internet platforms sounded very promising, the novella unfortunately was a disappointing read. The story is told via letters to a lawyer and is supposed to provide him with an explanation for why the protagonist refuses to join a lawsuit of her former colleagues against their former employer. Instead of providing insight into the devastating effects of the dark side of the modern media, the plot focuses on the main character's troubled relationship with her coworker. Many storylines fade away quickly, the open end is rather pointless. Such a pity, the idea had much more potential.
