3.5Mutige Frauen und Übernatürliches
Wir haben das Jahr 1873 und wir begleiten das talentierte, französische Medium Vaudeline und ihre Gehilfin Lenna nach London. Die bekannte und nur aus Männern bestehende Gesellschaft “Séance Society” bitte um Hilfe, da einige brutale Morde aufzuklären sind. Schnell merken beide, dass bei dieser renommierten Gesellschaft einiges nicht mit rechten Dingen zugeht - Täuschungen und Intrigen stehen auf der Tagesordnung. Ich bin kein großer Fan von Geschichten mit Geistern und Séancen. Wie die beiden aber in die Machenschaften abtauschen und einiges aufklären, fand ich sehr spannend gemacht. Gutes Buch für Zwischendurch.

2.0Zwei ungelöste Mordfälle, zwei Frauen auf Ursachen Forschung und ein verhinderter Mörder
Lenna‘s Schwester wurde ermordet und daher begibt sich Lenna, obwohl sie nicht gerade daran glaubt, in die Ausbildung bei Vaudeline um ein Medium zu werden. Eines Tages wird Vaudeline vom Vorstand der Seance Society Mr. Morley nach London gebeten um den Mord an dem ehemaligen Vorstand aufzuklären. Dabei wechselt die Geschichte die POV zwischen der personalen Erzählweise (Lenna) und der Ich-Perspektive (Mr. Morley) Mir hat das Buch leider nicht gefallen. Vieles war vorhersehbar, die Handlungsweise der Figuren war häufig unlogisch, die Handlung arg konstruiert und Spannung kam kaum auf, nur die Séancen bringen was Tempo rein. Morley‘s PoV war schlicht unnötig und die Seitenanzahl hätten aber anderweitig in der Geschichte gut getan. Für ein Katz und Maus Spiel fehlt der Geschichte so einiges. Evie’s PoV wäre interessanter gewesen. Allerdings könnte ich mir gut vorstellen, das es einen guten Cozy Crime Film ergeben würde, wenn ein Drehbuch Team den Plot glätten würde. Also Potential ist vorhanden. Aber das ist auch irgendwie das ärgerliche, das die Story mehr hergegeben hätte, als die Autorin draus gemacht hat.
