I must admit, I am pleasantly surprised by the book, as I hadn't actually planned to read it... It is set in a small coastal town in Connecticut and the setting is beautifully summery, fitting for the season... not 😅🍁🍂 I loved the Garretts with their many different characters and traits, my favourites were definitely George and Jase.🤭 But I also liked the others and all the animals like Voldemort and Mazda, of course 🦜 🐢 🐍🐈🐹 Personally, I found the plot twist a bit too sudden and not really well developed, but I could definitely understand the conclusions Samantha drew from it. The difference between the parent-child relationships in the two families was clear, and I really felt sorry for Sam in some places😭, as the Garrett children somehow have it better. Overall, it's a really nice book to relax with and definitely worth reading 🫶🏻 —————————————————————————— Ich muss ehrlich sagen, ich bin positiv überrascht von dem Buch, da ich eigentlich nicht geplant hatte es zu lesen… Es spielt in einem kleinen Küstenort in Connecticut und das Setting ist schön sommerlich, passend zur Jahreszeit … nicht 😅🍁🍂 Ich habe die Garretts geliebt mit ihren vielen verschiedenen Charakteren und Eigenschaften, meine fav waren auf jeden Fall George und Jase.🤭 Aber auch die anderen haben es mir angetan und die ganzen Tiere wie Voldemort und Mazda natürlich auch 🦜 🐢 🐍🐈🐹 Der Plot-Twist kam mir persönlich ein bisschen zu plötzlich und auch nicht wirklich gut ausgebaut, aber ich könnte die Schlüsse, die Samantha darauf folgend gezogen hat, definitiv nachvollziehen. Den Unterschied zwischen den Beziehung von Elternteil zu Kind wurde bei beiden Familien deutlich und mir tat Sam an manchen Stellen wirklich leid😭, da haben es die Kinder der Garretts doch irgendwie besser. Im großen und Ganzen ein wirklich schönes Buch zum entspannen und es lohnt sich definitiv zu lesen 🫶🏻
