Eine wirklich schöne Fantasy Reihe, die sicher nicht nur jungen und alten Sailor Moon Fans gefallen könnte, voller Humor, Romantik und sympathischen Charakteren. Ich freue mich jetzt schon auf den zweiten Teil
Aus der Sicht von Zhara hdb Hab begleitet man die beiden, wie sie einander kennen lernen, aber auch wie sie auf der Spur der Guardians of Dawn die in ihrem Reich verbotene Magie erkunden und somit nicht nur Zhara und Hans Bruder zu schützen, sondern auch die zahlreichen anderen magisch Begabten in ihrem Reich. Besonders gefallen hat mir der Humor und der Schreibstil der Autorin. Ebenso wie Zhara als weibliche Hauptfigur unglaublich stark und sympathisch ist, ohne dabei den Eindruck einer Mary Sue zu machen. Ein weiterer Pluspunkt ist, wie divers das Buch ist. Es gibt mehrere queere Charaktere, außerdem spielt die Geschichte in einer Welt, in der nichtbinäre, genderfluide und Trans Menschen nicht nur akzeptiert werden, sondern völlig normal sind, was man unter anderem daran erkennt, das so lange über Charaktere geschlechtsneutral geschrieben wird, bis diese ihre Gender Identität preis geben. Definitiv eine Lese Empfehlung <3
Das Buch ist auf der jüngeren YA Seite. Ich fand den Schreibstil bzgl. dem Setting eher unpassend. Die Charaktere waren fast alle unsympathisch. Die viele BTS Referenzen, die sich durchs ganze Buch ziehen, haben es da leider nicht besser gemacht. Wer mit BTS nicht vertraut ist, dem ist das bestimmt egal, wer sie jedoch kennt, wird da entweder schmunzeln oder wie ich, im Boden verkrichen wollen, weil es so unangenehm war. Und das sage ich als jemand, der ein Fan der Gruppe ist. Wäre es ein Easter Egg, ok. Aber warum man die Jungs quasi durchweg durch Buch mitziehen muss, war für mich völlig unersichtlich. Das Buch wäre als Anime besser gelungen.
Read this as a read along with the Illumipals. 3.5 stars ⭐️ One thing might be said first, cause I luckily can’t attest to this, but apparently some of the others found a ton of BTS references, which some were really bothered by. To be honest, I get it. I would be annoyed, cause I don’t think it’s necessary to put pop culture references in a book, that have nothing even remotely to do with our world. So thank god, I have no clue about BTS (I barely know of their existence), cause I might have thrown the book across the room. Anyway: I quite enjoyed Zhara. I like that it’s an easy read, nicely written with a flow to it, that works really well for me, cause my brain needed a break. The lore was super interesting, and I can’t wait what the next 3 books will do with it. Some of the characters were a little annoying/super naive. Others I enjoyed quite well, (orange cat for the win!). I think the plot didn’t give many surprises, which honestly, the book didn’t need. It was promoted as: sailor moon meets cinder, and for the first time in my life, I couldn’t agree more.
