Süchtig nach dieser Buchreihe!
Lange haben mich keine Bücher mehr so gefesselt wie diese Buchreihe. Ich bekomme Band 3-5 zu meinem Geburtstag am Donnerstag und kann es kaum aushalten, darauf zu warten >.< Der 1. Band hat mich bereits begeistert und mich dazu animiert, die Live Action Serie zu schauen (große Empfehlung meinerseits, falls euch die Story interessiert und an einer etwas abgewandelten Version interessiert seid) und nun war der 2. Band auch noch so wundervoll T_T Der Wechsel der Erzählperspektive passt so gut in diese Geschichte und das Worldbuilding, allerdings können sich die Kapitel etwas in die Länge ziehen, wenn man am liebsten wissen möchte wie es bei Wei Wuxian und Lan Wangji weitergeht. Trotzdem super interessant und spannend und selbstverständlich wichtig für die Hintergrundinformationen. Wei Wuxian als Mutter der Gruppe der Schüler aus den Clans ist wahrscheinlich das beste, das ich je gelesen habe und definitiv etwas, das ich in meinem Leben gebraucht habe. Auch Wen Ning ist ein absoluter Engel und jede Szene mit ihm dient als Bereicherung. Mal abgesehen, dass wir durch ihn eine Szene mit einem betrunkenen Lan Wangji bekommen haben, der in seinem eifersüchtigen Zustand so einiges tut, bei dem er im nüchternen Zustand staunen würde. Ich freu mich so sehr, den nächsten Band zu lesen!
Es bleibt spannend…
Wer die Serie kennt, wird von dem was in Band 2 passiert nicht weiter überrascht sein, dennoch macht es Band 2 nicht weniger spannend oder unterhaltsam. Es gibt viele tragische Momente, aber auch ebenso komische und herzerwärmende und ich finde die zeitliche Anordnung in den Büchern interessant. Bin gespannt wie die Chronologie weitergeht und gehe dann mal Band 3 suchen… 💜

I am speechless. The Yi City Arc broke my heart and that little SOB almost managed to piss me off enough to throw the book! Not to mention the main cockroatch with his snake-tounge and fake smile! I wanted to kick him down the stairs MYSELF! On the other hand is the beginning of mutual Wangxian ... with Wei Ying slowly turning into a disaster Bi. The pining. The sass. Drunk Lan Wanji! I'm obsessed! 😍
Just amazing as the first book!
The story of Lan Zhan and Wei Ying continues, and in this volume, we get even more moments where Lan Zhan’s feelings for Wei Ying really come through. There are several flashbacks to Wei Ying’s past life, which add depth and context to his character. I also loved the students of the Lan Clan – they honestly felt like the ultimate fan club for the two leads, and it made for some genuinely funny scenes. The plot around the headless corpse continues to unfold, and along the way, we’re introduced to the tragic story of Song Lan and Xiao Xichen – it is still deeply moving and heartbreaking. As with the first book, there’s a great mix of intrigue, power struggles, the undead, and just a touch of romance. I was surprised by how different the order of events is compared to the Donghua, but in a good way – it keeps things fresh even if you’ve already seen the adaptation. Also, I have to mention the illustrations – they’re absolutely beautiful. I know every Danmei novel includes some, but the art in MDZS is definitely among my favorites. Can’t wait to dive into the next volume!
2nd Reread
I just finished my second reread of the second volume and I’m as in love as the first time. I love all of the moments of Wei Wuxian bonding with the juniors. It is always just such a great time. I have to admit, I pretty much skipped over most of the Yi City Arc because I wasn’t up to go through that emotional damage again. To see the relationship between Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji develop just makes my heart so full. It’s the small interactions and comments that give me butterflies. I honestly think that I will never get tired of these two!! And honestly the Bonny and Clyde style ending of volume 2 is just heartwarming and heart wrenching at the same time. My poor little Jin Ling really has a tough life. He deserves all the goodness in this world! Justice for Jin Ling!!!
