Thousand Autumns: Qian Qiu (Novel) Vol. 4

I really enjoyed Volume 4. The first 150 pages were especially funny - the banter between Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao kept me constantly smiling. There was a short stretch in the middle that dragged a little, but towards the end it picked up again and was both exciting and entertaining. What I love most is the dynamic between the two: Shen Qiao, calm and composed like a Buddha, and Yan Wushi, who never stops provoking him. At first it was all hostility, but now his feelings are becoming more and more obvious. That contrast of “I’m serious this time” versus “I don’t believe you” is just so fun to read. I’m still a bit on the fence about the romance - in Volume 3 the shift from mistrust to emotions felt a bit abrupt. But here in Volume 4 it came across much smoother, and I’m really curious to see how Shen Qiao will respond in the final book. Overall, this is a fantastic series, carried especially by its characters, and it’s been such a joy to read.

Endlich geht es voran und Yan Wushis Avancen gegenüber Shen Qiao werden deutlicher. Ich kann es Shen Qiao allerdings auch nicht verübeln, dass er es nicht ernst nimmt. Yan Wushi hat uns alle schon oft genug in die Pfanne gehauen. Ich habe ein paar Rezis gesehen, die sagen es passiert nichts in diesem Band. Dem kann ich so gar nicht zustimmen. Die ganze Reihe bewegt sich einfach sehr langsam und ist ein ständiges Vor und Zurück. Ich für meinen Teil warte sehnsüchtig auf Band 5 und auf eine echte Romanze und nicht das, was wir jetzt gerade haben. Yan Wushi hat eindeutig noch viel Überzeugungsarbeit zu leisten.

Yan Wushis Charakter nimmt eine andere Richtung ein und auch wenn er nach vergangenem gemessen eine wandelnde Red Flag ist, gibt es der Story neuen Schwung. Ein spannender Band mit einem Cliffhanger der das warten auf Juli umso schwerer macht. 😅
