Terry Pratchett, geboren 1948 in Beaconsfield, England, erfand in den Achtzigerjahren eine ungemein flache Welt, die auf dem Rücken von vier Elefanten und einer Riesenschildkröte ruht, und hatte damit einen schier unglaublichen Erfolg: Ein Prozent aller in Großbritannien verkauften Bücher sind Scheibenweltromane. Jeder achte Deutsche besitzt ein Pratchett-Buch. Bei Piper liegen der erste Scheibenweltroman »Die Farben der Magie« sowie die frühen Bände um Rincewind, Gevatter Tod, die Hexen und die Wachen vor – Meisterwerke, die unter den Fans einhellig als nach wie vor unerreicht gelten. Terry Pratchett erhielt zahlreiche Auszeichnungen, darunter den »World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement Award« 2010. Zuletzt lebte der Autor in einem Anwesen in Broad Chalke in der Grafschaft Wiltshire, wo er am 12. März 2015 verstarb.

Well...this is the second or third Terry Pratchett book I've ever read and I remember that I liked the other(s?) but this one simply wasn't for me I think. I didn't really feel as if the story was going somewhere and the science part, even though funny from time to time, was quite confusing hopping back and forth and a big part of it just felt like somebody read something somewhere and retells it in a sloppier way. I'll try the third part of the series though, maybe it was just that book which I didn't like ;)
