Amelia: die Protagonistin. Sie kann wirklich sehr schnell ihre Meinung ändern. Sie hat mich ein bisschen an die Protagonisten auf Wattpad (Anfangszeiten) erinnert. War aber trotzdem noch aushaltbar. Natalie: fraich aus einer on/Off Beziehung. Eher der ruhige und gewissenhaften Typ. Ich fand sie meist recht angenehm und verständlich. Lieblingsszene: der Freizeitlark. Dort gab es keine kitschigen Klischees oder komische Wendungen. Es war einfach nur niedlich und angenehm zu lesen. Schreibstil: hat mir erstaunlich gut gefallen. Sehr gut zu verstehen. Kritik: Misskommunication vom feinsten. Ich hab mir irgendwann gewünscht,dass die beiden einfach mal ordentlich reden. Nicht immer ein hin und her. "Es ist nichts" , "Walter 😍". Zusammenfassend: hab ich es mir besser vorgestellt. An sich war es auch eine gute Idee. Nur manchmal halt zu Wattpad artig.
Imogen, Obviously is probably my favorite Becky Albertalli book, so obviously I had high expectations for this book which is set in the same universe. But... the vibes are really different. We have the same theme of a bisexual protagonist figuring out her crushes, however a big topic here are Youtubers and parasocial relationships. While I appreciated the topics surrounding "shipping" and intense fandom opinions, and the impact this has on a real life person and their relationship, this being the main romance plot was just weird for me. I guess 10 years ago I would have loved it, but it was just too much YA drama and childish behavior for me. And don't tell me to stop reading YA then if I don't like this age category - Imogen was also YA and I DEVOURED her story.
An sich hat mir die geschichte gut gefallen, aber es gab einige stellen, die fand ich eher langweilig, im vergleich zu den anderen büchern von der autorin, so dass ich mit den Gedanken zwischendurch immer wieder abgedriftet bin. Vor allem die thematik mit dem YouTuber war nicht so ganz meins, sodass ich die stellen auch eher langweiliger fand. ich habe auch das gefühl, dass es eher für jugendliche geschrieben ist und nicht mehr ganz meine altersklasse entsprechend ist, allerdings mochte ich den schreibstil und die idee hinter der geschichte wieder sehr gerne. insgesamt also drei sterne, weil es nicht ganz so meins aber dennoch ein gutes Buch war finde ich
Imogen Obviously felt like a queer hug from your entire found family which is why I was looking forward to Amelia, if only. What I especially enjoyed was the topic of shipping and speculating about the sexuality of strangers and the impact it can have on the people affected. It is an important topic and many fans definitely take it too far and invade a stranger's privacy with no remorse. Other than that it unfortunately didn't live up to my expectations. It was a sweet story but I did find the writing to be slightly juvenile and the characters lacked a certain depth that make a character interesting. I still enjoyed it and can recommend this to anyone who wants to read a short but comical story about friends on a roadtrip with a hint of self-discovery.
🇺🇲🇬🇧: It was ok, i liked it but the story was sometimes to boring and i think its probably for a younger age group i think maybe from 14 (im relatively poor in assessing) . I already could see where the story would go just from the text on the back. But it was nice for inbetween other books. 🇩🇪: Ich fand es nur ok. Ich mochte es zwar aber die Geschichte war ab und zu etwas langweilig und ich denke das das buch eher auf eine andere altersgruppe ziel vlt so ab 14 (bin relativ schlecht im einschätzen). Unteranderem wusste ich allein vom klappentext wie das Buch ausgeht. Aber es war gut um es zwischen anderen Büchern zu lesen.
Eine sehr lustige Romcom, die mich wirklich zum Lachen gebracht hat und der slow burn hat sich auch gelohnt. Ich fand die Protagonistin Amelia irgendwie sehr erfrischend, weil sie so giddy und aufgeregt immer war. Ab und zu hätte ich sie gerne mal geschüttelt, aber ich mag sie doch gerne. Nur fand ich den großen Teil mit dem Youtuber so naja. Es war zwar interessant wie es für eine „berühmte“ Person sein kann im Internet, aber die Teile mit den Interviews und Kommentaren habe ich mehr überflogen. Alles in allem aber ein entspanntes Buch für zwischendurch.

During the road trip, Amelia and Natalie develop a romantic connection, while Natalie’s brother Mark, who is finding out he’s not-so-straight, also finds himself attracted to someone.
This book offers a charming premise, but its slowburn nature may not appeal to everyone. With up to 90% of the book being uneventful, it can be a challenging read, as it took me six days to finish compared to the three days it took for the previous book I read. However, the confession in the last 15-20 pages is genuinely adorable, making the long wait somewhat worthwhile. The story between Mark and Walter is compelling enough to warrant a second book. Additionally, the nicknames Amelia gives her friends are delightful, with “Walt Disney” for Walter Holland being a standout, as well as Walter’s affectionate nickname for Mark, “Markiplier.”
