Interessant, aber ich vibe überhaupt nicht mit den Protagonisten
Ich habe mich wirklich durch das Buch quälen müssen. Freya und Bjorn sind leider einfach nicht meine liebsten Protagonisten und viele Entscheidungen und Entwicklungen fand ich total strange und nervig. Von daher - die Geschichte, der Schreibstil und das Worldbuildung sind gut, das Ende hat mich auch nochmal mehr abgeholt, aber bei mir steht und fällt es mit den Protagonisten und da waren die beiden einfach suuuper nervig 🙈

Dieses Schätzchen habe ich beenden. 🥰 Der Anfang war ziemlich durchwachsen, es war eher schwieriger für mich, ds ich das Gefühl habe, da es nicht in Aufschwung kam. Klar knüpft es sich super an Band 1 am Ende an, aber irgendwie fiehl es mir schwerwr, keine Ahnung wieso. Aber nach einigen Kapitel wurde es von Kapitel zu Kapitel einfach spannender, so ca nach 150 Seiten. Es kam einfach wieder so viel heraus und es wurde wieder alles aufgedeckt an Gehmnisse und Geschehnisse, dass ich oft das Buch nicht weg legen konnte. Erst hatte ich ein wenig bedenken, ob mir diese Story überhaupt gefallen würde, aber ohhhh shit. Jaaa!!!! Ich liebe die Nordische Meteorologie und ja, auch die Götter kommen vor. Ich finde die Story, Wordbuilding, Charakteren und die Lovestory mega gut beschrieben und auch die Kampfszenen gut. (ACHTUNG, TW lesen). ⚠️ Manchmal nervt mich die Hauptprotagonistin "Freya" mit manchmal ihren Niveaun denken, aber sonst ist sie eine starke Persönlichkeit und Bjorn, accch herje, den nimm ich mit. 😂☝🏻Es hat mir richtig gut gefallen, hat es aber nicht zum Highlight geschafft, da der Anfang für mich zäh war. Höhen und Tiefen
Freyas Entwicklung weiter zu verfolgen hat mich zunächst total gefesselt. In der Mitte des Buches hatte die Geschichte für mich allerdings ein kleines Tief, bevor sie mich – wie die Wurzeln von Hels Magie – plötzlich wieder komplett gepackt hat und ich das Buch nicht mehr aus der Hand legen konnte. Einige Wendungen waren vorhersehbar, bei anderen hatte ich nur vage Vermutungen, was es aber umso spannender gemacht hat zu sehen, ob ich richtig liege. Gleichzeitig gab es auch Überraschungen, die ich absolut nicht erwartet habe – und die mich genauso wütend gemacht haben wie Freya. Freya bleibt weiterhin scharfzüngig, merkt aber zunehmend, dass sie überlegter handeln muss, und lernt, mit ihren göttlichen Kräften umzugehen. Auch wenn mich das Buch nicht durchgehend zu 100 % mitreißen konnte, wollte ich am Ende unbedingt wissen, wie es weitergeht und wie sich die Prophezeiungen, die uns seit Band 1 begleiten, erfüllen werden. Alles in allem eine spannende Fortsetzung dieser Dilogie.
Ja, sind wir ehrlich. Die Story war vorhersehbar. Charakterentwicklung gabs jetzt auch nicht wirklich. Im Prinzip finde ich, war es Buch eins halt aus anderer Perspektive. Der Endkampf war underwhelming. An sich konnte man das Buch aber trotzdem gut lesen. War nicht super schlecht, aber eben auch nicht super gut. Mittelfeld find ich fair.
Einige Plot Twists
Nach ca. 40% vom Buch dachte ich, dass die Story jetzt kurz von Ende steht und habe befürchtet, dass es sich einfach schrecklich ziehen wird. Dem war glücklicherweise nicht so. Einige Plot Twists haben die Story aufgefrischt. Man hat noch mehr Verbindung zu den Charakteren bekommen. Ich mochte den zweiten Teil deutlich mehr als Band 1.
Idk why but I had such a hard time getting into this one. Just reading 3 to 4 pages nearly put me to sleep for the first 50 pages. So I decided to wait until the time was right and I could listen to the audiobook (aka the time was right when my listening hours on Spotify were back) and it was such a good decision. I knew I would like this one but I often have a hard time getting into second/third/... books in a series. BUT!!!! As soon as I was in again, I really didn't want to stop reading. The twists and turns, the lore, the political intrigue? That's what made me love this book. I was still a bit annoyed by Freya, but then around the 50% mark the whole thing shifted and I really liked her again (probably because she was back on her morally/ethically right path). Even though I was frustrated at times with her, it made her character so much more complex and real to me. In general, I remember being at awe how complex the characters were. The plot was overwhelming at times (in such a good way), especially when we find out certain things about certain characters. In hindsight, you really could've guessed it because THERE WERE SO MANY SIGNS, but I'm mostly a passenger princess when reading so I was mind-blown several times. Sadly, the romance fell short to me. Where it was much more the focus of the first book, there was so real tension or banter. I didn't mind though haha To sum up, I really liked the whole series and it was such a good introduction into Norse mythology! I'm really interested in more Jensen's writing and can't wait to start the Bridge Kingdom (hopefully rather soon!)

Ich habe mich wirklich durch das Buch quälen müssen.
