Great story!

The story of Zarrah & Keris was great. At the beginning I was constantly stressed, because I knew that at some point they had to find out who each other is & it drove me nuts. But all the development here was so great & all these political leaders just trying to keep their kingdoms going. I really enjoyed the tandem read with book two, because you had all these intersections from different perspectives & that made so much sense to me. But I’m honestly not sure what to think about Keris. Sure, he has a lot of pressure to endure, but some of his decisions were so purely based on his personal preference to keep Zarrah safe, even if it meant to cause trouble for others. & I really had some problems with that. So I’m really interested to see their story continue in the next book.

So so gut Enemies to lovers

"The Inadequate Heir" is the third book in the bridge kingdom series, telling the story of how Zarrah and Keris met and what they were up to during "The Traitor Queen" which we had seen bits and pieces of in that book already. I love how from the outside (in "The Traitor Queen") Keris looked like he had things under control much more than he actually did. Seeing all the mistakes he and Zarrah made throughout this book and how much they struggled with what was happening amused me, as it ran counter to what I expected their story to look like. The two of them had a very different love story as well as just a different story in general than Lara and Aren had, but it still captured the feeling of being a part of this world that made it feel like a direct expansion and continuation of the overall story. I can't wait to read "The Endless War" to find out what the future brings for them and how they get themselves out of this predicament, as well as read the third duology in this series coming after that. I am so in love with this world. Having already read "The Bridge Kingdom" and "A fate inked in Blood", I am not sure why I even entertained this book ending differently. It is such a typical Danielle L. Jensen ending, without being predictable in exactly the way it will happen, and I love that! I can only recommend for anyone who has read "The Bridge Kingdom" and "The Traitor Queen" to just continue reading!

WHY DID NO ONE WARN ME ABOUT THIS MOTHERFUCKER OF A CLIFFHANGER? although I suppose I should have known, having read the Bridge Kingdom - another brutal cliffhanger. Danielle wants to torture us all. I was beyond hyped for this book. To read about my man Keris and my wife Zarrah. And they did not disappoint me. I was afraid, that the book might bore me since the timeline of the story overlaps exactly with the one of The trailer queen. But the opposite happened. If found myself entrapped in the book and desperate to continue reading. I can’t wait for the next book and to see where my babes Keris and Zarrah continue. The mouth of this man? kill me, i won’t survive it. He’s a smooth talker goddamnit. This book had it all. A romance doomed from the beginning. Two people unable to resist the other no matter their believing and their people’s feud. Political intrigue and betrayal. War and scheming. A masterpiece. 5

For me the only problem of this book was that we already knew what would happen and how it would happen because it’s timeline is parallel to the second book. I loved the beginning of the book because at that point the storylines of the previous and this book were not intertwined yet. But then I knew exactly what, when and how everything would happen. Nonetheless I really enjoyed the two main characters, more that I thought I would. I think I prefer their dynamic and story (so far) to Lara and Aren. Especially the beginning when they didn’t know who the other one was, was fantastic.

this was all of the Lara and Aren content I desperately missed at the end of traitor queen. It is spicy. It is heartbreakingly sweet. It is further making me desperate for untitled book 4. Lara and Aren are just my babes and I will love them forever. AND HE SAID 'LOVE' AGAIN. CRYING. I NEED AN AREN. SOMEONE GIVE ME ONE. 4

Amazing third book of the series! I'm in love with Zera and the parallels of the first two stories. Can't wait for the next one!

Sehr gutes Buch!!

Okay so I made the mistake of not checking if this was part of a series and I read this without the other bridge Kingdom books (already ordered them and very excited for Lara and Aren) The only reason it didn’t get 5 Stars is because I felt like the world building was not in depth enough but I guess if I’d read the other books first it would be 5 stars. Simply loved it. Perfect mix of romance and actual plot happening
