About the book

The battle for the crown has begun, but which of the three sisters will prevail?

With the unforgettable events of the Quickening behind them and the Ascension Year underway, all bets are off. Katharine, once the weak and feeble sister, is stronger than ever before. Arsinoe, after discovering the truth about her powers, must figure out how to make her secret talent work in her favour without anyone finding out. And Mirabella, once thought to be the strongest sister of all and the certain Queen Crowned, faces attacks like never before - ones that put those around her in danger that she can't seem to prevent.

In One Dark Throne, the enthralling sequel to Kendare Blake's The New York Times-bestselling Three Dark Crowns, Fennbirn's deadliest queens must face the one thing standing in their way of the crown: each other.

After reading Three Dark Crowns I couldn't wait to read One Dark Throne. The book ties in perfectly with the happenings in the 1st book, so it was easy to get back into the story. Thanks to Three Dark Crowns I was used to the back and forth between the character-chapters, I didn't bother so much in the 2nd book. Although I still think it would be better if several chapters attached to each other turned around one person. The writing style was great again. You could read the book fluently without being confused by too long sentences or too much description. Everything was described in detail, but not too lengthy. The story was always exciting, with many different highlights. I never got bored while reading. I really like the development of the 3 queens. Each one continues to develop in her own way without getting stuck. As for Katharine, I was really curious. It was interesting how she has changed and what she is doing. Her change fascinated me and I was always excited to learn what had changed in her and what exactly happened to her at the end of Three Dark Crowns. In my opinion the end of the book is very successful, it almost cries out to be continued and you have to read the 3rd part.
