It feels like a modern fairytale
The story holds something magical. And I don't mean merely the girl itself and the riddle about her origins. I mean the way the author manages to write the change in Mabel and Jack, the atmosphere of their relationship and how it changes with the appearance of the child. My only criticism is that the conflict (between believing and not-believing, between openness and secrecy, between holding on and letting go) gets almost completely resolved after 3/4 of the book and from then on the story feels less deep and just a bit dragged out. At least in my eyes. I still liked the story though. A lot. The warmth between the characters feels like a balm for the soul and, who knows, maybe I'm going to build my own little snow child this upcoming winter...
