Darum geht es: Jack und Algernon sind zwei wohlhabende Gentlemen. Ihre abstrusen Doppelleben in der Stadt und auf dem Lande stürzt sie sowie Algernons Cousine Gwendolen und Jacks Pflegetochter Cecily in ein Schlamassel gegenseitiger Verwechslungen und falscher Erwartungen. Alle möchten Ernst sein… Die Geschichte um Jack, Algernon, Cecily und Gwendolen war für mich sehr unterhaltsam, kurzweilig, lustig und seltsam. Wie sich die Figuren verhalten und wie schnell eine Ehe geschlossen werden konnte, ist mir zwar albern und komisch vorgekommen, ist aber sehr passend für die Geschichte. I love it! Und: Ich brauche auch einen Bunbury! 5 von 5 Sterne
That was SO GOOD, omg. By far the best classic I have ever read! I had to read this play for a British Literature course at university, and although I did enjoy The Picture of Dorian Gray by Wilde as well, I didn't expect much going into this one. But oh dear, it was so good. The play was hilarious, and the characters had me laugh out loud multiple times while I read it, which hasn't been the case for many books up to this point. I can't wait to discuss this in class!
Ich fand das Drama echt sehr amüsant. Ich weiß nicht, wie es ist, wenn man es auf Deutsch liest, weil ich es auf Englisch für einen Kurs gelesen habe. Das ganze Drama durch die Verwirrungen die entstanden sind und die Wortspiele waren einfach nur köstlich amüsant und die ganzen Hintergründe zu kennen und die Streitgespräche dann zwischen den einzelnen Figuren zu lesen und zu verfolgen, war einfach toll. Man hat zwar nicht viele Informationen zu den einzelnen Figuren bekommen können, da es eben nur ein kurzes Drama ist, aber dennoch hab ich mich sehr wohl gefühlt in der Geschichte und mochte doch den Großteil der Figuren sehr gern. Auch das Setting hat mir sehr gefallen. Das Drama spielt zur Zeit der viktorianischen Zeit und Wilde macht sich innerhalb seines Werks im Unterton ein bisschen über die High Society der damaligen Zeit lustig, was ich wiederum sehr lustig fand. Falls ihr also mal eine kurze Abwechslung braucht und ein bisschen lachen wollt, dann ist dieses Buch bestimmt etwas für euch.
