Auf dieses Buch habe ich mich tierisch gefreut und deshalb musste ich es auch sofort lesen, nachdem es hier angekommen war. Unsere Protagonistin ist Gia, die in der Prom-Nacht von ihrem älteren Freund sitzen gelassen wird. Ausgerechnet jetzt, wo sie doch heute Nacht ihren Freundinnen beweisen wollte, dass es ihn wirklich gibt – denn Jules, ein Mädchen, das sich in ihre Clique geschlichen hat, stellt dessen Existenz immer wieder in Frage und hat damit auch Gias andere zwei Freundinnen angesteckt. Deshalb muss ein Ersatz her. Zum Glück wartet ein Junge auf dem Parkplatz auf seine Schwester. Er muss kurzerhand den Ersatz-Freund spielen. Allerdings geht es um viel mehr als die zarte Liebesgeschichte, die sich dann entwickelt. Denn Gia ist bislang scheinbar blind durch die Welt gelaufen und merkt gar nicht, wie oberflächlich sie eigentlich ist. Ihr Ersatz-Freund stößt eine Entwicklung in ihr an, die auch bitter nötig war. Das soll aber nicht heißen, dass Gia unsympathisch war oder ich sie nicht mochte. Im Gegenteil. Sie hat es nur von ihrer Familie so gelernt, dass sie nie ihre wirklichen Gefühle nach außen lässt und deshalb kennt niemand die wirkliche Gia. Außerdem braucht sie viel Bestätigung durch Social Media, was ich auch als ein sehr interessantes Thema empfunden habe. Ich fand es wirklich schön, dass sich die Autorin auch mit anderen Themen beschäftigt, als nur der Beziehung. Ihr Ersatz-Freund (ich will euch den Namen nicht verraten, da man ihn auf den ersten 50 Seiten noch nicht kennt) ist wirklich total toll. Er studiert Schauspiel und hat irgendwie so eine lockere Art, die mir gut gefallen hat. Toll war auch seine Schwester Bec, die ziemlich Anti-alles eingestellt ist und sich Gia anfangs in den Weg stellt, da sie ihren Bruder vor ihr beschützen will. Ihre Sprüche haben mich oft zum Lachen gebracht und ich habe sie letztendlich auch noch richtig lieb gewonnen. Das Ende war ziemlich emotional, wenn auch vielleicht ein bisschen zu schnell. Fazit: Kasie West konnte mich mit ihrem neuen Buch wieder völlig überzeugen. Ich habe die Beziehung zwischen Gia und ihrem Ersatz-Freund und Gias Entwicklung gerne mitverfolgt. Ein perfektes Sommer-Buch!
Actual Rating: 4.5 Was this book totally predictable and filled with cliché-moments? Yes. Did I care about that at all? 100% nope!!! The main characters were absolutely adorable together and I also had so much fun reading about Bec. I heard a lot about Kasie Wests books and I must say I absolutely understand the hype now. If this is one of her "not so good" books than I'm excited to read the rest of her work because I freaking loved "The Fill-In Boyfriend". There is nothing better than a cute, light-hearted read to make me happy. Beautiful written and told. I'll recommend this to anyone who wants to read a super sweet romance book. This one won't dissapoint.
I think a lot of people love to read contemporary literature and have had high expectations concerning this book. To me it is just a nice read and i do not have expectations when it comes to teen books, so i am quite excited about “the fill-in boyfriend“. I give this novel 4 stars because it was marvelous in view of the fact that it is just a teen book. I do not want to compare it to Jane Austens or J. K. Rowlings novels because it does not claim to be world literature. In my opinion some reviews tend to forget this fact.
