Seventeen-year-old Finley has only ever had one goal: to become a famous podcaster. This includes coming up with the perfect pitch to land her on her school's podcast team. But when her football-obsessed boyfriend, Jensen, decides to also try out—and uses her idea—she's left confused and betrayed.
Determined to get back at him, Finley and her friends try to find the perfect revenge scheme, but quickly discover that Jensen is almost-impossible to best. Keyword, almost.
By chance, Finley discovers a knack for kicking and decides to take Jensen's spot on the football team. To help her train, she recruits Jensen's cute but conceited nemeses, Theo. Soon the two discover that their connection runs deeper than football. But Finley can't let herself get distracted, and Theo has secrets of his own. Is true love really better than the perfect revenge?

It was better than I expected and I loved it!
There is so much about this book that I really liked. It made me feel so many emotions, for example I really hated Jensen but loved Finley’s grandma and the main characters! I think the story has a good pace, not to fast but not to slow either and I love how Kasie West managed to tell the grandma’s love story in an interesting way at the side but it still had so much meaning to Finley and the book. I’d definitely recommend it!
✨Tropes✨ - accomplices to lovers - sports romance - slow burn
Already on of this year's highlights! Finley is a seventeen-year-old with ambitions. Her goal? Becoming a famous podcaster. But as she approches an important step to fulfilling her dream and tries out for her school's podcast team, she is unexpectedly double crossed by her footballplayer boyfriend Jensen. Not only does he manage to get the part Finley has been working so hard for – he did that using one of her ideas! Betrayed and angry she plots her revenge and decides to hit him hard where it hurts: she's gonna take his spot as a kicker on the football team. But she needs help to achieve this newly found goal and finds it in Jensen's nemesis, Theo, who eagerly joins her pursuit of revenge. As they prepare her vengeance a beautiful friendship grows - or could there be more? I just absolutely adore Kasie West's books! She creates realistic characters with flaws, unique quirks and charme. I couldn't help but fall for Theo alongside Finley. Her pain caused by Jensen's betrayal revoked the typical teenager's reaction of "I'm gonna get back at you" and portrayed a very relatable emotional state. Additionally, the sideplot surrounding Finley's grandmother was simply written beautifully and touching. As someone who had family members with the same condition, I felt very seen and validated. This book is a must read for anyone who wants a non-spicy, adorable lovestory, that'll touch your heart.
Better Than Revenge is exactly what I expected from a Kasie West novel — a light, cute, and easy-to-read YA romance. It’s one of those stories that makes you smile while reading and leaves you feeling good afterward. The characters are likable, the romance is sweet, and the whole book just has that comforting charm. That said, it didn’t really stand out for me. It’s enjoyable and heartwarming, but also quite predictable and a bit “basic” in terms of plot and emotional depth. Not in a bad way — it’s just more of a fun, quick read than something that’s going to stay with me for long. Overall, I’d call it a solid YA comfort read — perfect for when you want something cute and low-stress in between heavier books.
