Erstaunlich gut zu lesen, dauert ca. 1h. Trotzdem muss man auf viele Namen und keine richtige Hauptstory vorbereitet sein. In den ersten 20 Seiten ist zu Ikarus alles erzählt, es ist eigentlich eine Sammlung von griechischen/ römischen Sagen über Götter, Kriege und Schöpfungsmythen. Ca. Alle 10 Seiten wird jemand in einen Vogel verwandelt, frag mich nicht warum. Insgesamt ganz interessant und ein guter Zeitvertreib auf einer sonst langweiligen Bahnfahrt.
Eigentlich geht es in dem Band nur ganz kurz um den Flug des Ikarus, insgesamt ist es eher eine Zusammenstellung verschiedenster Geschichten aus den Metamorphosen. Jede dieser Geschichten ist aber auf ihre eigene Art super spannend und sehr bewegend, auch wenn der Kontext manchmal sehr abrupt wechselt. Auch die tausenden Namen, die in jeder Geschichte auftauchen sind am Anfang teils verwirrend, die meisten hat man allerdings schon einmal gehört. Am Ende war die Geschichte mit dem Wildschwein und all dem nachfolgenden Drama mein absoluter Favorit.

Personally I don’t read too much about the Greek gods so I found it extremely hard to grasp the tale. The book is quite old and you can not only tell by the writing but also by the way women are described. It felt like reading through a very heavy male gaze and I hated it. The writing was nicely poetic though.
