"A brilliant debut, full of everything I love: a sparkling and fully realized heroine, an intricate and deadly system of magic, and a searing romance that kept me reading long into the night. Serpent & Dove is an absolute gem of a book." —Sarah J. Maas, #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Court of Thorns and Roses series
Bound as one, to love, honor, or burn. Book one of a stunning fantasy duology, this tale of witchcraft and forbidden love is perfect for fans of Kendare Blake and Sara Holland.
Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned.
As a huntsman of the Church, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. But when Lou pulls a wicked stunt, the two are forced into an impossible situation—marriage.
Lou, unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, must make a choice. And love makes fools of us all.
Set in a world of powerful women, dark magic, and off-the-charts romance, book one of this stunning fantasy trilogy will leave readers burning for more.

Fantasy romance - Louise & Reid

Well.. that was really unexpected! This review contains spoilers ‼️‼️ I must say, it was very hard to get into this book for me since I didn’t understand the world and beings at all so I'd say the first 30-40% was really mid for me but it took a really pleasant turn after it and I began to understand more things as we got on. We have our main character, Louise. She’s a which who’s being hiding as a thief for a long time. We have Reid Diggory, a Chasseur - as they call them. He’s basically a which hunter, living in the Church Tower with all the other Chasseurs, including the Archbishop. Their ages aren’t mentioned in the book. Lou has been running from something, although we don’t know what from - and looking for ‘Angelica’s Ring' at the start of the book. Reid and her meet and because of the circumstances, are "forced" to marry. The Archbishop took Reid in as a small child since he got left in a garbage dump and trained him to be the Captain of the Chasseurs. I really liked their hatred for each other that turned into adoration and love over time - a true enemies to lovers story. They’re both so different yet so perfect for each other. I REALLY enjoyed their chemistry🤭. Coco, (Lou’s best friend) is also a which, however a different one called blood which. She is also such a sweetheart, I adored her alongside with Ansel (a sixteen year old boy learning to be a Chasseur who is friends with Reid). Beauregard 'Beau' (the King Augustes son) also turned out to be on our side by the end of the story so I also took quite a liking to him haha. Madame ‘Helene' Labelle showed up in the books but the plot twists toward the end were so shocking - she turned out to be Reid’s mother. The Archbishop turned out to be Lou’s father alongside Morgane le Blanc - the very villain of the story. I HATE her and I’m scared for the next books, since this one ended with a cliffhanger😭. She’s such an unlikable character. Tbh I was really confused with the amount that God and religion played a role hahaha. I really enjoyed this book as a whole! 🤗🤗
