This took me a while to finish, because I was not as invested in the story. It became a little to war-heavy for me (and I assume the next books will be even more so). I am a lot more driven by character and relationships, than heavy plot. I do like the “darker” side of Mare though and that she is not a flawless character. I think I will take a little break before continuing this series.
Starke Protagonistin, unglaubliche Plots!
Ich habe jede denkbare Emotion in diesem Buch durchlebt. Ich habe geweint, gelacht, geschrien und geflucht! Dieses Buch war eine Achterbahn! Die Plottwists sind einfach unheimlich gut durchdacht, die Handlungsstränge haben mir wirklich gut gefallen. Ich muss allerdings sagen, dass ich manche Entscheidungen von Mare nicht verstehen konnte. Der Schreibstift ist wie schon im ersten Buch großartig und hat mich in jeder Sekunde mitfühlen lassen.
Auch der zweite Teil der Red Queen Reihe hat mir wieder gut gefallen. Die Geschichte um die Suche nach den ganzen Newbloods fand ich interessant und die verschiedenen Fähigkeiten, die diese besaßen, fand ich echt cool. Man hat Mare wieder ein bisschen besser kennengelernt, die anderen Charaktere ein bissche mehr kennengelernt und neue Charaktere kennengelernt. Mares Bruder Shade hab ich sehr lieb gewonnen. Ich mochte die Beziehung zwischen den beiden total gerne! Die mögliche Lovestory zwischen Mare und Cal, die Mare nicht immer so zulassen will, nimmt nicht zu viel Raum ein und lässt Platz für die wichtigen Dinge außenrum. Ist mal eine willkommene Abwechslung zu der in den meisten Romatasy Serien vorkommende Anschmachteritis.😂 Die letzten 150 Seiten mit dem Gefängnisausbruch etc haben nochmal viel Action und Spannung rein gebracht und mich quasi ans Buch gefesselt. Die Todesfälle am Ende waren teils schon etwas unvorhersehbar. Ich bin gespannt in welche Richtung sich Mare noch weiterentwickelt. Nachdem sie sich quasi von allen abgeschottet hat, weil sie nicht will, daß jemand durch sie verletzt wird, scheint sie ziemlich allein dazustehen. Und grade der Plottwist am Ende hat mich auch wieder sehr neugierig auf den dritten Teil gemacht! Ich bin super gespannt 😊
3.5/5 Good pace and enough unsettling feelings to keep you tense through the read. As usual, Victoria loves to end her books on a massive cliffhanger, but luckily for me I got book three lined up already. I would have rated it higher, if not for the annoying eye roll I did every time Mare starts to talk about herself. We get it girl, you are better than everyone else ... The ending was giving me Katniss at District 13 and I don't know how to feel about that ...
