Über Terry Pratchett kann man eigentlich nichts mehr sagen, was nicht schon gesagt worden ist. Auch ich kann nur unterstreichen, dass er etwas vom Grossartigsten ist, das uns passiert ist. "Helle Barden" ist ein weiterer Band aus der Scheibenwelt und führt uns wieder ins (un-)widerstehliche Ankh-Morpok. Die Wache hat mit einigen Schwierigkeiten zu kämpfen (e.g. Minderheiten) und dann sucht auch noch ein Mörder mit einer bisher unbekannten Waffe die Stadt heim. Eine schwungvolle Geschichte zeit Terry Pratchett at his best. Das Minderheiten-Thema wird hier so bravurös und grandios dargestellt, dass es einem gleich warm ums Herz wird. Wie auch nicht, wenn sich hier die Zwerge mit den Trollen kloppen?
hmm..... Zuerst einmal gefiel mir dass Rassismus und auch eine Priese Sexismus hier und da ein großer Teil des generellen Settings waren. Die Zwerge hassen die Trolle, die Trolle hassen die Zwerge und alle Anderen hassen beide - ein gegen etwas sein einfach nur um gegen etwas zu sein also. Bravo für das social commentary. Leider habe ich beim Lesen gemerkt dass die an sich wirklich gut ausgeführten Beschreibungen mich im Lesen stark verlangsamen. Ich konnte meinen Verstand beim Lesen also nicht wandern lassen und richtig ins Geschehen abtauchen. Zudem wird sehr flott zwischen verschiedenen Geschehnissen mit verschiedenen Charakteren an verschiedenen Orten gewechselt. Sobald also ein Storystrang interessant wird wird man herausgeworfen. Am Ende merkte ich wie meine Konzentration und mein Willen der Geschichte zu folgen immens nachließ und ich zuletzt die letzten 80 Seiten weitgehend übersprungen habe. Ich finde den Autor und die Story trotzdem gut. Allerdings ist wohl die Art von Schreibstil nicht das was ich persönlich brauche
Umso mehr ich von der Scheibenwelt lese, desto mehr liebe ich sie. Die Nachtwache ist der Knaller. Ich liebe den Werwolf und die Freundschaft zwischen Zwerg und Troll. Mit dem Ende hätte ich so in der Form nicht gerechnet. Es war ein wenig verwirrend, die Gedankenwelt des Mörders. Der Patrizier ist ein faszinierender Charakter.

The Watch really hit their stride in this one. With Sam Vimes one day before his marriage and simultaneous retirement, responsibility falls more and more to Corporal Carrot. Between keeping peace between the mortal enemy factions of dwarves and trolls, he will have to sort out a series of seemingly random murders. On top of that, someone has discovered that there's still one last descendant of the ancient line of Kings surviving - so why not upend all order, murder the Patrician and restore monarchy? Bonus: the life and struggle of a young werewolf in the big city. ⚔️❤️
