Spannende Fortsetzung mit mehr Hexen und übernatürlichem Horror
Das erste Buch der The Lives of Mayfair Witches Trilogie hat mich beim Lesen so begeistert, dass ich mir sofort danach die beiden anderen Teile gekauft habe. Dieser zweite Teil setzt direkt da an, wo The Witching Hour aufgehört hat und begleitet anfangs Michael Curry und andere Mitglieder der Mayfair Hexen. Hierbei wird den bereits bekannten Familienmitgliedern mehr Tiefe verliehen und neue Geheimnisse enthüllt. Den spannenden Mittelpunkt bildet jedoch diesmal Lasher und die Erforschung seiner Natur und Herkunft, diese blieben selbst nach dem Ende des ersten Teils ein Geheimnis. Die Antworten, die man bekommt, sind dabei überraschend und fügen sich gut in die bisherige Handlung ein. Besonders stechen die nun wichtigeren Charaktere Mona Mayfair und Julien hervor da sie die Erzählung mit neuen Perspektiven und ikonischer Charakterzeichnung bereichern. Auch die Geheimorganisation Talamasca spielt eine größere Rolle, da sie Kontrolle über Lasher und seine Entwicklung ergreifen will. Lasher liest sich wie das erste Buch sehr spannend und erweitert mit Finesse die Mythologie von Anne Rice's Mayfair Saga.
Gelungene Fortsetzung
Das zweite Buch schließt beinahe nahtlos an das erste Buch der Reihe an und ist ein absolutes Muss! Erst hier wird die eigentliche Geschichte abgeschlossen. Das Ende war für mich recht vorhersehbar, aber vollkommen in Ordnung. Spannend wird es für mich insbesondere durch neue interessante Charaktere, wie Mona, aber auch durch die Hintergrundgeschichten, etwa der von Julien. Das Familiengeflecht wird insgesamt etwas inniger und vertrauter. Auch die Talamasca ist wieder beteiligt: eine wunderbare Mischung!
