Ein Klassiker der Fantasy-Literatur und ein must-read für Liebhaber von exzentrischen Autoren und skurrilen Geschichten mit Herz. Es gibt wenig Menschen, die so geschickt mit Worten umgehen und sich trauen, Welten und Geschichten zu erfinden, die sich selbst nicht so ernst nehmen, aber dennoch ganz viel Ernsthaftigkeit in sich tragen. Das Buch liest sich leicht und lässt einen viel schmunzeln, zeigt aber auch vielschichtige Charaktere, wichtige Gedanken und einen Tod, der ganz anders ist als normalerweise dargestellt. Dieses Buch hat einfach Charakter und viel Herz und macht Vorfreude auf Weihnachten :)
Der Weihnachtsmann der Scheibenwelt - der Schneevater ist verschwunden. Aber wer verteilt nun die Geschenke? Ausgerechnet der Tod stellt sich dazu bereit den Schneevater zu vertreten. Allerdings dauert es nicht lange bis auch er feststellen muss, dass es in einem Schornstein ziemlich eng werden kann - selbst für den Tod.

"Eine anhäufung von beobachteten Fakten ist noch lange kein Beweis" -TOD Der Schneevater ist verschwunden und jemand muss ihn vertreten. Ganz klar eine Aufgabe für TOD,mit Albert versucht er den Glauben an den Schneevater aufrecht zuhalten. Seine Enkelin Susanne, Rattentod, die Zauberer der Unsichtbare Universität und auch die Assassinen spielen in dieser Buchreihen eine wichtige Rolle. Susanne arbeitet als Gouvernante und bekämpft hier Gnome, schwarze Männer und vieles mehr. Doch als ihr Großvater als Schneevater verkleidet durch den Kamin huscht wird sie misstrauisch und begibt sich selbst auf die Suche. Ich möchte gar nicht soviel von dem Inhalt erzählen, denn man muss es einfach selber gelesen haben. Es ist eine typische Geschichte aus der Scheibenwelt, sehr skurril, sarkastisch und einfach humorvoll. TOD ist einer meiner absoluten Lieblingscharakter und sorgt mit seinem Charme und witzt für eine tolle weihnachtliche Stimmung beim Lesen. Ohne zuviel zusagen , ein absolutes MUST READ !!
Was für ein Fiebertraum auf Pillen und Pilzen. Zuerst das positive, das Buch hat seine Momente, ich finde den Humor Weltklasse und der Tod ist ein richtig genialer Charakter. Generell sind die meisten Charaktere wahnsinnig liebevoll und witzig geschrieben und machen Spaß. Das große Aber ist allerdings die Sprunghaftigkeit der Handlung. Ständig wusste ich nicht wo ich jetzt gerade bin und was gerade abgeht. Zuviele Handlungsstränge laufen parallel ab, mit zu vielen Personen, die ich einfach gar nicht kenne. Ich hätte vermutlich andere Terry Prachets zuerst lesen müssen, denn für den Start war es definitiv die falsche Wahl. Ich glaube das muss ich nochmal lesen, um es gerecht bewerten zu können. So war ich echt froh es abgeschlossen zu haben. Jede Lesesitzung war wie ein Drogenrausch.
Ich habe dieses Buch jetzt zum zweiten oder dritten Mal gelesen und es war sicher nicht das letzte Mal. Es ist einfach eine großartige Geschichte aus dem Scheibenwelt-Universum, gewohnt humorvoll, aber auch tiefsinnig und ein wenig gesellschafts- und konsumkritisch. Eine absolute Leseempfehlung, nicht nur, aber besonders für die Zeit zwischen den Jahren!
This was so much fun!!! Most of the time I had no clue what was going on nor who any of these characters were or what they were up to. But that was nearly not necessary, due the heart of this book is this fantastical world pretchett just built in which you just want to dive and participate in. This was my second pretchett read but my first one in english and OH BOY do yourself a favour and never ever read a translated book by pratchett. It will never be as good as in his own words.
The subject of Hogfather is Christmas. Except on Discworld, it's called Hogswatch, the jolly old fat man is the Hogfather, and he rides around in a sleigh pulled by four large boars named Gouger, Rooter, Tusker and Snouter. Like Santa Claus, the Hogfather goes about climbing down chimneys and leaving presents for children. But this year, things are a little different. The Hogfather seems to have gone on a diet because he's nothing but skin and bones?well, actually, just bones. It seems the Hogfather has died and Death has stepped in to take over. The Death of Rats is busy warning Susan Sto-Helit what Death is up to when he drops down her chimney. Susan is a governess with a few special talents. You see, Susan is Death's granddaughter. The daughter of Death's adopted daughter and her husband, Death's former apprentice. Susan demands an explanation and Death reveals that the Hogfather is dead. When Susan demands to know why he is doing this, he refuses to answer and tells her it is not her business. So when Susan begins her investigation. She's joined by the Death of Rats, an annoying talking raven, and the God of Hangovers. Also on the case, though they don't know it, are the intellectual elite of the Unseen University. The wizards, led by Archchancellor Ridcully, are working on the problem of mysteriously appearing gods. Gods are popping out of thin air?the God of Indigestion, the Eater of Socks, the Cheerful Fairy and the Wisdom Tooth Goblin, to name just a few.
