Ich hab dieses Buch einfach geliebt! Emily und Jack haben so eine besondere Dynamik: ständig am Necken und trotzdem voller Gefühl. 📖 Sarah Adams hat wieder genau den richtigen Mix aus Humor, Herzklopfen und Kleinstadtflair getroffen. Ihr Schreibstil ist so lebendig, dass man gar nicht merkt, wie schnell man durch die Seiten fliegt. Und diese kleinen Nachrichten zwischen den beiden? Pure Romcom-Magie! ✨
Eine süße Kleinstadt RomCom mit Charakteren, die man nur ins Herz schließen kann! 💖
Mein erstes Buch der Autorin und ich bin begeistert. Der vielschichtige Aufbau der Protagonisten als auch der Nebencharaktere und Kleinstadt, gespart mit Humor der mich des öfteren hat Schmunzeln und Kichern lassen und Tiefgang bei emotionalen Themen wie Trauer, Selbstfindung und Eltern - wirklich wundervoll 🥹 Lässt sich übrigens auch hervorragend lesen, wenn man die zwei Bände davor nicht kennt UND es gibt eine closed-door Romance Option in der Trigger Warnung (wobei ich den Part als sehr respektvoll und romantisch beschrieben bezeichnen würde) 💖

Beg, Borrow or Steal war für mich eine süße, leichte Geschichte mit Humor und mit ganz viel Herz. Ich habe die anderen Bände über die Geschwister bisher noch nicht gelesen, aber nach diesem Buch stehen sie definitiv auf meiner Leseliste. Ehrlich gesagt: Den Titel habe ich nicht so ganz gecheckt. Jack mochte ich sehr – er hat eine angenehme Präsenz in der Geschichte. Insgesamt kein perfektes Buch, aber eins, das Spaß macht, einen zum Lachen bringt und zum schmunzeln <3

Ich habe am Anfang etwas länger gebraucht, um rein zu kommen, als bei den anderen Teilen, aber dann war es einfach großartig. Ich liebe Rome und die ganzen Stadtbewohner und es ist soo schon dorthin zurückzukehren! Auch der Schreibstil war wieder richtig toll und man fliegt einfach durch die Seiten. Was mir auch sehr gefällt ist, dass man erfährt, wie es den Charakteren aus den vorherigen Bänden geht und dass es Teaser für einen weiteren Teil gibt (also ich brauche den auf jeden Fall!). Mit Emily musste ich zwar erst etwas warm werden, aber dann konnte ich richtig gut mit ihr mitfühlen und mich auch teilweise mit ihr identifizieren. Jack ist einfach toll! Er hat zwar auch sein Päckchen zu tragen, aber er ist einfach soo lieb und cute! 🥰 Die Chemie zwischen den beiden war richtig toll und ich habe es geliebt, wie sie miteinander umgegangen sind. Sie haben sich zugehört und unterstützt, sich entschuldigt, wenn sie einen Fehler gemacht haben und konnten einander so gut verstehen. Und es gab kein unnötiges Drama, weil sie einfach ehrlich miteinander geredet haben. Fazit: Ich will auch einen Jackson Bennett! 🥰❤️ Das Ende war auch richtig cute und ich freue mich soo sehr, auf einen nächsten Teil, der hoffentlich kommt (Maddies Geschichte steht ja noch aus). 🤗

Mein erstes Buch von Sarah Adams und ich bin wirklich begeistert von ihrem Schreibstil! Er ist witzig, romantisch, ein bisschen sarkastisch und unglaublich unterhaltsam. Die Dialoge haben mir besonders gut gefallen, weil sie voller Schlagabtausche und Humor sind. Habe ganz viel anotiert, weil ich anders nicht konnte🩷🥹 Im Mittelpunkt stehen Emily und Jack, die sich bereits seit ihrer Studienzeit kennen oder besser gesagt: nicht ausstehen können. Ihre Rivalität zieht sich bis in ihr Berufsleben hinein, denn beide arbeiten inzwischen als Lehrer an derselben Schule. Als Jack plötzlich wieder in die Stadt zurückkehrt – ohne seine Verlobte, mit der er eigentlich weggezogen war – wird ihre alte Dynamik schnell wieder entfacht. Doch hinter den Sticheleien steckt mehr, als beide lange wahrhaben wollen. Nach und nach merken sie, dass ihre Verbindung viel tiefer geht als ihre jahrelange Rivalität. Gleichzeitig tragen beide ihre eigenen Geheimnisse und Verletzungen mit sich herum, die ihre Beziehung komplizierter machen. Für mich war diese Rivals-to-Lovers-Geschichte ein richtig schönes Leseerlebnis. Sie hat mir viele humorvolle und herzerwärmende Momente beschert. Besonders mochte ich, wie sich hinter den Neckereien langsam echte Gefühle entwickeln. Und Jack… JACK I LOVE YOU! Wenn ihr die Bücher von Abby Jiménez liebt, dann werdet ihr nicht enttäuscht😊🫶

Ich hab die Vorgängerbände ausgelassen – die konnten mich einfach nicht packen. Aber Beg, Borrow, or Steal? Hat mich komplett abgeholt! 😍 Der Enemies-to-Friends-to-Lovers-Trope ist hier richtig schön umgesetzt. Die Dynamik zwischen Emily und Jack ist witzig, charmant und einfach zum Verlieben. 🥰 Man fiebert mit, lacht mit – und ja, man verliebt sich irgendwie mit. 💌 Klar, die Geschichte ist vorhersehbar – aber genau das wollte ich. Ein cozy Love-Read mit Herz, Humor und ganz viel Chemie. 💫 Fazit: Hat mein Herz erwärmt und mir genau das gegeben, was ich gebraucht hab. ✨💖
Endlich hat Sarah Adams mir wieder gezeigt, warum ich ihre Bücher so liebe! Die When in Rome Reihe vergöttere ich sowieso – aber ich glaube, das ist längst kein Geheimnis mehr. Beg, Borrow or Steal hat mir sogar noch ein kleines bisschen besser gefallen als Practice Makes Perfect! Die Liebe zwischen Emily und Jack konnte man einfach so schön spüren, und besonders die Art und Weise, wie Jack sie liebt und sich um sie kümmert, war einfach toll. Emily hat so viele Charaktereigenschaften, mit denen ich mich total identifizieren kann, und man möchte sie beim Lesen einfach in den Arm nehmen. Ihre Entwicklung im Laufe der Geschichte hat mir auch richtig gut gefallen!
DAS absolute Highlight der When in Rome Reihe!! Mal wieder super humorvolle Nebencharaktere und schöne Beziehungen zwischen Familie, Freunden und der Stadt. Diesmal gab es meiner Meinung nach mehr Tiefe in der Story, aber nicht zu dramatisch oder langgezogen, was ich sehr mochte. Ich bin mir jedoch ziemlich sicher, dass einige Emilys Charakter nicht mögen werden. Sie ist nun mal manchmal etwas “dornig“, aber das ist nicht alles an ihrem Charakter. In diesem Buch der Reihe gibt etwas “komplexere” Charaktertypen als in den zwei Büchern davor. Die ganzen Sticheleien und das banter zwischen Jack und Emily waren bewusst übertrieben, aber durch den Schreibstil nicht komisch oder nervig, sondern haben der Geschichte bzw. den Charakteren eher mehr chemistry gegeben. Super gelungen, ich mochte es sehr!!

Also ich liebe ja Hater-to-Lovers – dieses Knistern, die kleinen Sticheleien, und wenn man merkt, dass da doch mehr ist… und genau das hat mir dieses Buch gegeben! Ich mochte die Story von Emily und Jack total – erst dieses „Ich kann dich nicht ausstehen“ und dann langsam (aber soooo schön) dieses „Okay, vielleicht bist du doch ganz süß“. Und das beide immer alleine Starke seine mussten/wollten und merken das es schön ist jemanden zuhaben. Außerdem lieb ich es das die Story der anderen Charaktere weiter geht bzw an geteasert wird. Freu mich schon auf Madison und James Story , muss nun bis Janauar warten, mano..
"I'm the oldest daughter, I'm not scared of anything." It took me WAY too long to get into this story, but I don't know why, because Emily & Jack are truly a great couple. There was a lot of banter and amazing communication (miscommunication who? These protagonists never heard of her, that's for sure), a small town setting and two aspiring writers that cheer each other on instead of seeing the other one as a threat.
(POTENTIALLY) A NEW NO. 1 BOOK BOYFRIEND
Since it's part 3 of the series, we're already locked into this lovely small town of Rome, know the people, know the gossip, know the drill. And once again, I enjoyed every single second I spent there. SERIOUSLY, WHY DID I KEEP THIS BOOK WAITING FOR 2 YEARS? Secondly, can we PLEASE talk about the giant, big, fat green flag that Jack was? How he devotionally supported Emily with her secret side project restored my faith in the male part of society a little bit. I truly think Levi (Love On The Brain) and Thomas (Ride With Me) are going to have to share the podium with Jack from now on. Likewise, the chemistry between those two (Emily and Jack, I mean, not Levi and Thomas) was to die for. Despite their alleged dislike for each other, their undeniable attraction came through pretty much every time they ran into each other. The story itself was (surprise, surprise) a true joy as well. Like, every single thing happening entertained me exactly in the way I needed it to. At the same time, though, I could relate to Emily's struggles with everyone moving away too.
Sich einzugestehen, dass man einen Weg finden muss, auch alleine glücklich zu sein, sein eigenes Leben zu finden und nicht den Fokus erst auf andere zu setzten. Emily versucht es zu ignorieren es, dass sie ihre Geschwister vermisst, die alle ihren eigenen Weg gefunden haben nachdem sie ausgezogen sind. Man bemerkt, dass Emmy ein Problem damit hat sich zurechtfinden und ihr Leben nicht ständig an die Entscheidungen der anderen anzupassen. Sie befindet sich in dem Prozess, in Erfahrung zu bringen, wie sie mit den Veränderungen umgehen kann und mit sich selbst zufrieden wird. Diese Lebenssituation kann ich gut nachempfinden, weshalb ich mich zum Teil mit der Protagonistin gut identifizieren konnte. Insgesamt gab es öfter Parallelen die ich zwischen den Charakteren und mir ziehen konnte, weshalb mir das Lesen grundsätzlich gefallen hat. Dann gibt es natürlich die entscheidene Enemies to Lovers Story die sich durch die Handlung zieht. Ich muss sagen, dass ich es generell amüsant fand, den Konversationen von Emily und Jack zu folgen. Insgesamt denke ich aber, dass ich nicht ein sehr großer Fan des Romance-Genres bin und ich viele Passagen eher langweilig empfunden habe. Mir fällt es schwer, eine Sternebewertung zu vergeben, da ich wenig vergleichbare Romance Bücher gelesen habe…und einerseits viele Themen als tiefgründiger empfunden habe, andererseits hat mich die Liebesgeschichte nicht komplett abgeholt.
I loved this book! It's the third one about the siblings from Rome, Kentucky, and none of the books have let me down. I'm really looking forward to the next one about Maddie! Jack is just an angel of a man—clearly written by a woman (obviously!). I can really relate to Emily—not just because of the name—but also because I'm a big sister myself. Their dynamic was so well written. At first, I found the bickering and all the things Emily did to try to get rid of Jack a bit ridiculous, but the story had such a good pace that it worked out in the end. And the acted out spicy scene from her book??? - That was so hot. I think I just really enjoy reading about people who find themselves, follow their dreams, and finally speak up
Teil 3 der "When in Rom" Serie von Sarah Adams hat mich wieder gut unterhalten. Auch wenn ich mit Emily und ihrer Art lange nicht warm wurde. Erst als ich verstand warum sie so ist wie sie ist wurde es besser. Jackson hingegen fand ich von Anfang an toll. Schön war auch das Wiedersehen mit alten Bekannten aus den Vorgängerbänden. Ich freu mich schon auf auf Band 4

And again Sarah Adams proves that she is my all time fav author!! 🤩 I absolutely loved being back in Rome and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to get the eArc🩷 Emily is by far my favorite sibling, maybe it's because I'm also an older sister, but I could really relate to her personality and inner conflicts. And the banter between her and Jack was just chef's kiss, I was grinning like a damn teenager while sitting in public and reading, because I couldn't contain my emotions🤭 I can't wait until I can have the physical copy and annotate it completely!!!

Ich hab zwar unglaublich lang gebraucht um das Buch zu beenden, aber trotzdem gehört es nun zu meinen Lieblingsbüchern. Die Dynamik zwischen Jack und Emily war zu jeder Zeit realistisch und glaubwürdig und einfach nur toll. Zu keiner Zeit hat es mich gelangweilt und auch der Third-Act-Breakup war nicht unnötig und unglaublich gut durchdacht. (Und ich bin kein Fan von Third-Act-Breakups). Als nächstes möchte ich unbedingt "Practice Makes Perfect" lesen, ich kanns gar nicht mehr abwarten.🥹
This was, yet again, a cute romance from Sarah. Very happy-vibes setting and lovely characters and funny moments. I will start by saying that I think the description of the book is a bit misleading in my opinion. Yes, both Emily and Jack are rivals in the beginning of the book and they have been rivals for the past 10 years. However, that rivalry very quickly turned into sympathy, friendship and eventually more and even if it makes sense because of their shared past, I do think the rivals-to-lovers development was slightly too fast. The general plot also sounds more exciting than it actually is. It’s cute, no debate about that, but also not exactly anything more than that. I feel like there were a couple of missed opportunities like experiencing Jack & Emily’s rivalry during school (the book takes place during summer break) or working together on Jack’s new book. Maybe even working together renovating Jack’s new house. There was so much miscommunication potential, or maybe more like “let’s just change topics and not talk about it at all”-moments, but instead of giving in to those moments, both main characters actually went into those conversations and talked about it and we love to see it. I loved how proactive Jack was in regards to Emily and his feelings for her. We love a confident man. There were some heavy & emotional topics on both character’s sides and I think in terms of the characters personality and the general feeling and vibes of the book, the topics were handled pretty well. There were some moments/monologues in the second half, or maybe the last third, of the book where it felt a little bit dragged out. “Beg, Borrow, Or Steal” did not exactly go plot wise the way I thought it would, but it still is a very nice & cute book and I loved it for what it was. Very Sarah Adams coded. Small town romances stay superior. Makes me want to read the other books in this series, which in typical me-fashion, I own but haven’t read yet. Hach Sarah, was machst du nur mit mir? Habe ich gedacht, mit Noah und Will aus den ersten zwei Bänden, hätte ich schon die perfekten green flag bookboyfriends, kommt sie nun mit Jack um die Ecke. Jackson Bennett, 32 Jahre, Brillenträger, Tattoos, bunte Freundschaftskette, sexy spießige Klamotten, Lehrer und Autor. Alles an diesem Buch, einfach alles ist perfekt. Wenn ihr nicht auf englisch lest, dann hoffe ich, ihr überbrückt die Zeit, bis Fischer es veröffentlicht, mit dem Lesen von Band 1 und 2, falls das, aus welchen Gründen auch immer, noch nicht passiert ist! Glaubt mir, Rome hat die tollsten Bewohner und ihr wollt da nie mehr weg. "she told me to find someone someday who will hug me when I’m sad and then help me look on the bright side of things when all I can see is the dark." Mehr will ich nicht schreiben, denn ihr müsst es einfach lesen. Lest es! Lebt es! Liebt es!
Is this it? Is my quality reading slump finally cured? I enjoyed a lot of the books I read in the last couple months. But that’s about it. They were a little silly, blank and I didn’t really feel and connect with the characters. I hated it. I want to feel something when I read, I want to be absorbed in the world with all its ups and downs. But this…oh this! The banter. Rivals to lovers. Her being the oldest sister. Grief and depression which are bottled up and about to be spilled over. And I kid you not, I audibly laughed at some of their bickering and banter! But my heart also ached at some points in the book and that. Is. Exactly. What. I. Want. Pls I want to feeeeeeeel everything while reading! I loved every second of this. Here’s to hoping that I’ll finally read a thrilling fantasy novel next (it’s about time)
3.75 Stars! Ok so unfortunately this was my least favorite in this series so far. But just to clarify I did like this book, just not as much as the others. First of all what I did like: Jack, obviously. He is such a cutie pie and just so thoughtful and well aware of his feelings, which I love. He is also so intentional when speaking and don’t get me started with his motorbike! Arghhh
●Enemies to friends to lovers● Auch den Dritten Teil der Rome, Kentucky Reihe habe ich geliebt. Die Kleinstadt hat schon seit dem ersten Teil ein Teil meines Herzen bekommen sowie auch die ganzen Side-Charaktere. Die Geschichte von Emily und Jack bietet eine unterhaltsame Ablenkung vom Alltag, aber lässt auch tiefere Themen wie Trauer oder dysfunktionale Familie nicht aus. Das Buch ist einfach zu lesen und hat einen angenehmen Schreibstil.
I think that this is my favorite of the series. I wouldn't have thought it at the beginning because Emily didn't feel like the character that I liked in the first two books. but the banter between them and the bickering was actually really fun because from relatively early on it was clear that Emily as well as Jack are hurt and that's why they behave like this. the development of their relationship was full of tension and anticipation. I also loved that there was a little spice in there and sex was described. Not too much or too detailed but much better than the first two books of the series. I think I could see the development of the author between the books too. I definitely loved this book and recommend it.
Emily Walker is a creature of habit – and she hates being disrupted. But when her alltime nemesis Jack Bennet moves back into town disruption is exactly what happens. Not only does he return to the school they both used to teach at, he takes up her favitite spot in the local café AND – cherry on top – he is her new neighbor! After calling of his planned wedding, Jack has returned to the place he calls home. Besides being an absolute menace to Emily he does spend his free time writing - after all, he IS a bestselling Mystery Novelist. But his new neighbor seems to inhibit his mind intensely... and apperently his porch, too? When Emily asks Jack to be her accomplice the trajectory of their relationship changes This book displays one of the best enemies to lovers I have ever read. The bickering and sarcasm and just overall vibes Emily and Jack give off are immatculate. Especially his backstory was wirtten wonderfully and provides the reader with insights explaining his behaviour in a perfectly executed "Show, don´t tell" maner. Sadly the character of Emily got increasingly unberaable during the book. Her entire "my Highschool Boyfriend broke my heart and now I dispise relationships and turn into a frustrated, bitter person" stick proved to get increasingly frustrated the further one progressed within the book. Over all this was a cute fun read with a nice ending but nothing I´d recommend intensely to my friends.
This was such a cute romance!I loved the small town and the Walker family part (even though it took me about 60% of the book to know who was who) and it really makes me want to read the other three books in the series. As an eldest daughters who's been through some tough times, I really related to Emily. Some things she thought and said hit deep, I wish I would've tabbed them. The way the story unfolds and Emily and Jack get to know each others' secrets was done so beautifully and in a non-annoying way which sadly happens quite often imo. I decided to tab this book at about 60 pages in and I marked not just so many cute moments, but so many more I actually laughed out loud. I guess that was my favorite thing besides Emily being relatable: Sarah Adams' funny writing style. I had to laugh several times at their bickering, especially at the beginning! Can't wait to read Practice Makes Perfekt next!
ich mochte vieles an der Geschichte, habe viel gelacht und konnte mich auch auch in vielem wiedererkennen. allerdings war mir die Nemesis Sache am Anfang zu übertrieben. und auch die Beziehung vom männlichen prota zu seiner Familie war nicht wirklich cozy. und auch nicht befriedigend ausgearbeitet wenn man's schon anfängt. alles in allem habe ich mit diesem Buch aber tolle Stunden verbracht

Der vielschichtige Aufbau der Protagonisten als auch der Nebencharaktere und Kleinstadt, gespart mit Humor der mich des öfteren hat Schmunzeln und Kichern lassen und Tiefgang bei emotionalen Themen wie Trauer, Selbstfindung und Eltern - wirklich wundervoll 🥹 Lässt sich übrigens auch hervorragend lesen, wenn man die zwei Bände davor nicht kennt UND es gibt eine closed-door Romance Option in der Trigger Warnung (wobei ich den Part als sehr respektvoll und romantisch beschrieben bezeichnen würde) 💖

Beg, Borrow or Steal war für mich eine süße, leichte Geschichte mit Humor und mit ganz viel Herz. Ich habe die anderen Bände über die Geschwister bisher noch nicht gelesen, aber nach diesem Buch stehen sie definitiv auf meiner Leseliste. Ehrlich gesagt: Den Titel habe ich nicht so ganz gecheckt. Jack mochte ich sehr – er hat eine angenehme Präsenz in der Geschichte. Insgesamt kein perfektes Buch, aber eins, das Spaß macht, einen zum Lachen bringt und zum schmunzeln <3

Ich habe am Anfang etwas länger gebraucht, um rein zu kommen, als bei den anderen Teilen, aber dann war es einfach großartig. Ich liebe Rome und die ganzen Stadtbewohner und es ist soo schon dorthin zurückzukehren! Auch der Schreibstil war wieder richtig toll und man fliegt einfach durch die Seiten. Was mir auch sehr gefällt ist, dass man erfährt, wie es den Charakteren aus den vorherigen Bänden geht und dass es Teaser für einen weiteren Teil gibt (also ich brauche den auf jeden Fall!). Mit Emily musste ich zwar erst etwas warm werden, aber dann konnte ich richtig gut mit ihr mitfühlen und mich auch teilweise mit ihr identifizieren. Jack ist einfach toll! Er hat zwar auch sein Päckchen zu tragen, aber er ist einfach soo lieb und cute! 🥰 Die Chemie zwischen den beiden war richtig toll und ich habe es geliebt, wie sie miteinander umgegangen sind. Sie haben sich zugehört und unterstützt, sich entschuldigt, wenn sie einen Fehler gemacht haben und konnten einander so gut verstehen. Und es gab kein unnötiges Drama, weil sie einfach ehrlich miteinander geredet haben. Fazit: Ich will auch einen Jackson Bennett! 🥰❤️ Das Ende war auch richtig cute und ich freue mich soo sehr, auf einen nächsten Teil, der hoffentlich kommt (Maddies Geschichte steht ja noch aus). 🤗

Mein erstes Buch von Sarah Adams und ich bin wirklich begeistert von ihrem Schreibstil! Er ist witzig, romantisch, ein bisschen sarkastisch und unglaublich unterhaltsam. Die Dialoge haben mir besonders gut gefallen, weil sie voller Schlagabtausche und Humor sind. Habe ganz viel anotiert, weil ich anders nicht konnte🩷🥹 Im Mittelpunkt stehen Emily und Jack, die sich bereits seit ihrer Studienzeit kennen oder besser gesagt: nicht ausstehen können. Ihre Rivalität zieht sich bis in ihr Berufsleben hinein, denn beide arbeiten inzwischen als Lehrer an derselben Schule. Als Jack plötzlich wieder in die Stadt zurückkehrt – ohne seine Verlobte, mit der er eigentlich weggezogen war – wird ihre alte Dynamik schnell wieder entfacht. Doch hinter den Sticheleien steckt mehr, als beide lange wahrhaben wollen. Nach und nach merken sie, dass ihre Verbindung viel tiefer geht als ihre jahrelange Rivalität. Gleichzeitig tragen beide ihre eigenen Geheimnisse und Verletzungen mit sich herum, die ihre Beziehung komplizierter machen. Für mich war diese Rivals-to-Lovers-Geschichte ein richtig schönes Leseerlebnis. Sie hat mir viele humorvolle und herzerwärmende Momente beschert. Besonders mochte ich, wie sich hinter den Neckereien langsam echte Gefühle entwickeln. Und Jack… JACK I LOVE YOU! Wenn ihr die Bücher von Abby Jiménez liebt, dann werdet ihr nicht enttäuscht😊🫶

Ein cozy Love-Read mit Herz, Humor und ganz viel Chemie. 💫 Fazit: Hat mein Herz erwärmt und mir genau das gegeben, was ich gebraucht hab. ✨💖
Endlich hat Sarah Adams mir wieder gezeigt, warum ich ihre Bücher so liebe! Die When in Rome Reihe vergöttere ich sowieso – aber ich glaube, das ist längst kein Geheimnis mehr. Beg, Borrow or Steal hat mir sogar noch ein kleines bisschen besser gefallen als Practice Makes Perfect! Die Liebe zwischen Emily und Jack konnte man einfach so schön spüren, und besonders die Art und Weise, wie Jack sie liebt und sich um sie kümmert, war einfach toll. Emily hat so viele Charaktereigenschaften, mit denen ich mich total identifizieren kann, und man möchte sie beim Lesen einfach in den Arm nehmen. Ihre Entwicklung im Laufe der Geschichte hat mir auch richtig gut gefallen!
DAS absolute Highlight der When in Rome Reihe!! Mal wieder super humorvolle Nebencharaktere und schöne Beziehungen zwischen Familie, Freunden und der Stadt. Diesmal gab es meiner Meinung nach mehr Tiefe in der Story, aber nicht zu dramatisch oder langgezogen, was ich sehr mochte. Ich bin mir jedoch ziemlich sicher, dass einige Emilys Charakter nicht mögen werden. Sie ist nun mal manchmal etwas “dornig“, aber das ist nicht alles an ihrem Charakter. In diesem Buch der Reihe gibt etwas “komplexere” Charaktertypen als in den zwei Büchern davor. Die ganzen Sticheleien und das banter zwischen Jack und Emily waren bewusst übertrieben, aber durch den Schreibstil nicht komisch oder nervig, sondern haben der Geschichte bzw. den Charakteren eher mehr chemistry gegeben. Super gelungen, ich mochte es sehr!!

Also ich liebe ja Hater-to-Lovers – dieses Knistern, die kleinen Sticheleien, und wenn man merkt, dass da doch mehr ist… und genau das hat mir dieses Buch gegeben! Ich mochte die Story von Emily und Jack total – erst dieses „Ich kann dich nicht ausstehen“ und dann langsam (aber soooo schön) dieses „Okay, vielleicht bist du doch ganz süß“. Und das beide immer alleine Starke seine mussten/wollten und merken das es schön ist jemanden zuhaben. Außerdem lieb ich es das die Story der anderen Charaktere weiter geht bzw an geteasert wird. Freu mich schon auf Madison und James Story , muss nun bis Janauar warten, mano..
"I'm the oldest daughter, I'm not scared of anything." It took me WAY too long to get into this story, but I don't know why, because Emily & Jack are truly a great couple. There was a lot of banter and amazing communication (miscommunication who? These protagonists never heard of her, that's for sure), a small town setting and two aspiring writers that cheer each other on instead of seeing the other one as a threat.
(POTENTIALLY) A NEW NO. 1 BOOK BOYFRIEND
Since it's part 3 of the series, we're already locked into this lovely small town of Rome, know the people, know the gossip, know the drill. And once again, I enjoyed every single second I spent there. SERIOUSLY, WHY DID I KEEP THIS BOOK WAITING FOR 2 YEARS? Secondly, can we PLEASE talk about the giant, big, fat green flag that Jack was? How he devotionally supported Emily with her secret side project restored my faith in the male part of society a little bit. I truly think Levi (Love On The Brain) and Thomas (Ride With Me) are going to have to share the podium with Jack from now on. Likewise, the chemistry between those two (Emily and Jack, I mean, not Levi and Thomas) was to die for. Despite their alleged dislike for each other, their undeniable attraction came through pretty much every time they ran into each other. The story itself was (surprise, surprise) a true joy as well. Like, every single thing happening entertained me exactly in the way I needed it to. At the same time, though, I could relate to Emily's struggles with everyone moving away too.
Sich einzugestehen, dass man einen Weg finden muss, auch alleine glücklich zu sein, sein eigenes Leben zu finden und nicht den Fokus erst auf andere zu setzten. Emily versucht es zu ignorieren es, dass sie ihre Geschwister vermisst, die alle ihren eigenen Weg gefunden haben nachdem sie ausgezogen sind. Man bemerkt, dass Emmy ein Problem damit hat sich zurechtfinden und ihr Leben nicht ständig an die Entscheidungen der anderen anzupassen. Sie befindet sich in dem Prozess, in Erfahrung zu bringen, wie sie mit den Veränderungen umgehen kann und mit sich selbst zufrieden wird. Diese Lebenssituation kann ich gut nachempfinden, weshalb ich mich zum Teil mit der Protagonistin gut identifizieren konnte. Insgesamt gab es öfter Parallelen die ich zwischen den Charakteren und mir ziehen konnte, weshalb mir das Lesen grundsätzlich gefallen hat. Dann gibt es natürlich die entscheidene Enemies to Lovers Story die sich durch die Handlung zieht. Ich muss sagen, dass ich es generell amüsant fand, den Konversationen von Emily und Jack zu folgen. Insgesamt denke ich aber, dass ich nicht ein sehr großer Fan des Romance-Genres bin und ich viele Passagen eher langweilig empfunden habe. Mir fällt es schwer, eine Sternebewertung zu vergeben, da ich wenig vergleichbare Romance Bücher gelesen habe…und einerseits viele Themen als tiefgründiger empfunden habe, andererseits hat mich die Liebesgeschichte nicht komplett abgeholt.
I loved this book! It's the third one about the siblings from Rome, Kentucky, and none of the books have let me down. I'm really looking forward to the next one about Maddie! Jack is just an angel of a man—clearly written by a woman (obviously!). I can really relate to Emily—not just because of the name—but also because I'm a big sister myself. Their dynamic was so well written. At first, I found the bickering and all the things Emily did to try to get rid of Jack a bit ridiculous, but the story had such a good pace that it worked out in the end. And the acted out spicy scene from her book??? - That was so hot. I think I just really enjoy reading about people who find themselves, follow their dreams, and finally speak up
Teil 3 der "When in Rom" Serie von Sarah Adams hat mich wieder gut unterhalten. Auch wenn ich mit Emily und ihrer Art lange nicht warm wurde. Erst als ich verstand warum sie so ist wie sie ist wurde es besser. Jackson hingegen fand ich von Anfang an toll. Schön war auch das Wiedersehen mit alten Bekannten aus den Vorgängerbänden. Ich freu mich schon auf auf Band 4

And again Sarah Adams proves that she is my all time fav author!! 🤩 I absolutely loved being back in Rome and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to get the eArc🩷 Emily is by far my favorite sibling, maybe it's because I'm also an older sister, but I could really relate to her personality and inner conflicts. And the banter between her and Jack was just chef's kiss, I was grinning like a damn teenager while sitting in public and reading, because I couldn't contain my emotions🤭 I can't wait until I can have the physical copy and annotate it completely!!!

Ich hab zwar unglaublich lang gebraucht um das Buch zu beenden, aber trotzdem gehört es nun zu meinen Lieblingsbüchern. Die Dynamik zwischen Jack und Emily war zu jeder Zeit realistisch und glaubwürdig und einfach nur toll. Zu keiner Zeit hat es mich gelangweilt und auch der Third-Act-Breakup war nicht unnötig und unglaublich gut durchdacht. (Und ich bin kein Fan von Third-Act-Breakups). Als nächstes möchte ich unbedingt "Practice Makes Perfect" lesen, ich kanns gar nicht mehr abwarten.🥹
This was, yet again, a cute romance from Sarah. Very happy-vibes setting and lovely characters and funny moments. I will start by saying that I think the description of the book is a bit misleading in my opinion. Yes, both Emily and Jack are rivals in the beginning of the book and they have been rivals for the past 10 years. However, that rivalry very quickly turned into sympathy, friendship and eventually more and even if it makes sense because of their shared past, I do think the rivals-to-lovers development was slightly too fast. The general plot also sounds more exciting than it actually is. It’s cute, no debate about that, but also not exactly anything more than that. I feel like there were a couple of missed opportunities like experiencing Jack & Emily’s rivalry during school (the book takes place during summer break) or working together on Jack’s new book. Maybe even working together renovating Jack’s new house. There was so much miscommunication potential, or maybe more like “let’s just change topics and not talk about it at all”-moments, but instead of giving in to those moments, both main characters actually went into those conversations and talked about it and we love to see it. I loved how proactive Jack was in regards to Emily and his feelings for her. We love a confident man. There were some heavy & emotional topics on both character’s sides and I think in terms of the characters personality and the general feeling and vibes of the book, the topics were handled pretty well. There were some moments/monologues in the second half, or maybe the last third, of the book where it felt a little bit dragged out. “Beg, Borrow, Or Steal” did not exactly go plot wise the way I thought it would, but it still is a very nice & cute book and I loved it for what it was. Very Sarah Adams coded. Small town romances stay superior. Makes me want to read the other books in this series, which in typical me-fashion, I own but haven’t read yet. Hach Sarah, was machst du nur mit mir? Habe ich gedacht, mit Noah und Will aus den ersten zwei Bänden, hätte ich schon die perfekten green flag bookboyfriends, kommt sie nun mit Jack um die Ecke. Jackson Bennett, 32 Jahre, Brillenträger, Tattoos, bunte Freundschaftskette, sexy spießige Klamotten, Lehrer und Autor. Alles an diesem Buch, einfach alles ist perfekt. Wenn ihr nicht auf englisch lest, dann hoffe ich, ihr überbrückt die Zeit, bis Fischer es veröffentlicht, mit dem Lesen von Band 1 und 2, falls das, aus welchen Gründen auch immer, noch nicht passiert ist! Glaubt mir, Rome hat die tollsten Bewohner und ihr wollt da nie mehr weg. "she told me to find someone someday who will hug me when I’m sad and then help me look on the bright side of things when all I can see is the dark." Mehr will ich nicht schreiben, denn ihr müsst es einfach lesen. Lest es! Lebt es! Liebt es!
Is this it? Is my quality reading slump finally cured? I enjoyed a lot of the books I read in the last couple months. But that’s about it. They were a little silly, blank and I didn’t really feel and connect with the characters. I hated it. I want to feel something when I read, I want to be absorbed in the world with all its ups and downs. But this…oh this! The banter. Rivals to lovers. Her being the oldest sister. Grief and depression which are bottled up and about to be spilled over. And I kid you not, I audibly laughed at some of their bickering and banter! But my heart also ached at some points in the book and that. Is. Exactly. What. I. Want. Pls I want to feeeeeeeel everything while reading! I loved every second of this. Here’s to hoping that I’ll finally read a thrilling fantasy novel next (it’s about time)
3.75 Stars! Ok so unfortunately this was my least favorite in this series so far. But just to clarify I did like this book, just not as much as the others. First of all what I did like: Jack, obviously. He is such a cutie pie and just so thoughtful and well aware of his feelings, which I love. He is also so intentional when speaking and don’t get me started with his motorbike! Arghhh
●Enemies to friends to lovers● Auch den Dritten Teil der Rome, Kentucky Reihe habe ich geliebt. Die Kleinstadt hat schon seit dem ersten Teil ein Teil meines Herzen bekommen sowie auch die ganzen Side-Charaktere. Die Geschichte von Emily und Jack bietet eine unterhaltsame Ablenkung vom Alltag, aber lässt auch tiefere Themen wie Trauer oder dysfunktionale Familie nicht aus. Das Buch ist einfach zu lesen und hat einen angenehmen Schreibstil.
I think that this is my favorite of the series. I wouldn't have thought it at the beginning because Emily didn't feel like the character that I liked in the first two books. but the banter between them and the bickering was actually really fun because from relatively early on it was clear that Emily as well as Jack are hurt and that's why they behave like this. the development of their relationship was full of tension and anticipation. I also loved that there was a little spice in there and sex was described. Not too much or too detailed but much better than the first two books of the series. I think I could see the development of the author between the books too. I definitely loved this book and recommend it.

Not only does he return to the school they both used to teach at, he takes up her favitite spot in the local café AND – cherry on top – he is her new neighbor! After calling of his planned wedding, Jack has returned to the place he calls home. Besides being an absolute menace to Emily he does spend his free time writing - after all, he IS a bestselling Mystery Novelist. But his new neighbor seems to inhibit his mind intensely... and apperently his porch, too? When Emily asks Jack to be her accomplice the trajectory of their relationship changes This book displays one of the best enemies to lovers I have ever read. The bickering and sarcasm and just overall vibes Emily and Jack give off are immatculate. Especially his backstory was wirtten wonderfully and provides the reader with insights explaining his behaviour in a perfectly executed "Show, don´t tell" maner. Sadly the character of Emily got increasingly unberaable during the book. Her entire "my Highschool Boyfriend broke my heart and now I dispise relationships and turn into a frustrated, bitter person" stick proved to get increasingly frustrated the further one progressed within the book. Over all this was a cute fun read with a nice ending but nothing I´d recommend intensely to my friends.
This was such a cute romance!I loved the small town and the Walker family part (even though it took me about 60% of the book to know who was who) and it really makes me want to read the other three books in the series. As an eldest daughters who's been through some tough times, I really related to Emily. Some things she thought and said hit deep, I wish I would've tabbed them. The way the story unfolds and Emily and Jack get to know each others' secrets was done so beautifully and in a non-annoying way which sadly happens quite often imo. I decided to tab this book at about 60 pages in and I marked not just so many cute moments, but so many more I actually laughed out loud. I guess that was my favorite thing besides Emily being relatable: Sarah Adams' funny writing style. I had to laugh several times at their bickering, especially at the beginning! Can't wait to read Practice Makes Perfekt next!
ich mochte vieles an der Geschichte, habe viel gelacht und konnte mich auch auch in vielem wiedererkennen. allerdings war mir die Nemesis Sache am Anfang zu übertrieben. und auch die Beziehung vom männlichen prota zu seiner Familie war nicht wirklich cozy. und auch nicht befriedigend ausgearbeitet wenn man's schon anfängt. alles in allem habe ich mit diesem Buch aber tolle Stunden verbracht
