Ryan, along with most of her high school class, is back in town for her best friend’s wedding, and June is eager to show the former bully exactly what he’s missed out on. A lot has changed since their teenage days; June is now the Southern queen of gourmet donuts, not to mention one of the most desired bachelorettes in her small town.
What’s she’s not expecting, though, is for Ryan to show up looking like Adonis and touting his own career success as the youngest chef to ever win three Michelin stars. How dare he try to one-up her revenge plot? Luckily, June never backs down from a challenge.

Leider für mich wesentlich schwächer als Band 1 :(
Ach schade… Nachdem ich „The Match“ wirklich richtig geliebt und verschlungen habe, hatte ich natürlich entsprechend Vorfreude und damit verbunden auch Erwartungen an „The Enemy“. Ich fand den Anfang schon etwas lahm, dann wurde es etwas besser und ich habe zwischendurch auch wirklich schmunzeln müssen. Manche Dialoge waren wirklich witzig und manche gingen auch ans Herz. Aber alles in allem konnte es mich nicht so richtig packen. Ich fand auch die Charaktere eher blass. Mit June konnte ich so überhaupt nicht connecten und teilweise war ich auch richtig genervt von ihr. Währendessen war Ryan wirklich Zucker und richtig sympathisch. Die Krönung fand ich aber dann den Bonus-Epilog. Man muss sagen, obwohl June ja eigentlich einen Donut-Shop besitzt und die Donuts auch selbst produziert, spürt man auf keiner Seite ihre Leidenschaft dafür. Es wird auch nirgends gesagt, dass sie das Backen und den Laden liebt. Bei Ryan kam das vergleichsweise besser rüber, warum er Koch wurde und was er am Kochen mag. Da war der weitere Verlauf auch wesentlich nachvollziehbarer. Aber das, was im Epilog aus June und ihrem Business wurde, könnte ich wirklich gar nicht nachvollziehen, wo das dann auf einmal herkam. War für mich einfach gar nicht authentisch. Ich muss sagen, generell habe ich mich ab ca. Seite 120 wirklich mehr durch das Buch gequält, als dass ich es genossen habe :( Ich bin wirklich selbst so traurig darüber, dass es mir leider nicht so gut gefallen hat, wo ich Sarah Adams und ihren Schreibstil und ihre Geschichten eigentlich so mag. Kleiner Side Fact: Man trifft ganz kurz auf Rae Rose aus „When in Rome“
Ryan is the absolute best and ridiculously confident.
I think I've never read a book where the MMC already knows that he is full on head over heels for the FMC. It was cute and kinda refreshing not to constantly be mad that they don't just openly tell each other that they like one another. And the banter really had me going.
Das Buch bekommt von mir leider nur 3,5 Sterne 🥹⭐️ Die Protagonistin hat mir irgendwie nicht so gut gefallen und war mir oft einfach zu cringe. Ryan hingegen fand ich toll. Enemies to lovers. June und Ryan kennen sich seit der Schule und hassen sich sehr. Nach der Schule verlieren sie sich aus den Augen und treffen erst nach 12 Jahren bei der Hochzeit gemeinsamer Freunde wieder auf einander. Ryan möchte alles wieder gut machen doch June tut alles um ihm das Leben schwer zu machen. Langsam gelingt es ihm aber ihre Mauern zu durchbrechen. An und für sich mochte ich die Geschichte sehr, aber June war oft so so so kindisch und nicht wie eine 30jährige. Am Ende hat mich ihr Verhalten ziemlich genervt. Ansonsten ein nettes Buch für zwischendurch.
Sarah Adams does it again!
The Enemy had me laughing, swooning, and flipping pages late into the night. From the witty banter to the heartfelt moments, this book delivers everything I love about her writing. The chemistry between the characters is undeniable, and the slow burn kept me hooked. While I wanted just a bit more depth in a few scenes, the charm and humor more than made up for it. A delightful rom-com perfect for cozy nights or a sunny weekend read. Highly recommend for fans of sweet, feel-good romance!
Super witzig
Ich fand die Geschichte von June und Ryan super witzig. Hab mehr gelacht als beim ersten Teil wos im Evie und Jake ging. Die zwei sind im zweiten Teil sogar paar mal aufgetaucht was mir sehr gefallen hat. 😄 Obwohl das Buch nicht lang war fand ich June und Ryan mega. Man wusste immer was sie fühlen, was sie denken und wollen. Das Ende fand ich besonders schön bei diesem Buch. Kann ich nur empfehlen 🥰

ich fand das Buch sehr süß🥹 Es war sehr auf die Charaktere fokussiert und man hatte manchmal das Gefühl, dass nicht extrem viel passiert ist, was nicht schlimm ist, denn die Charaktere in Sarah Adams‘ Büchern sind immer sehr besonders und bleiben mir immer sehr im Gedächtnis und das ist das, was ich an ihren Büchern so liebe. Auch wenn es nicht immer extrem spannend war, hat es sehr viel Spaß gemacht, das Buch zu lesen🩷

das zweite Buch von drei welches mir von sarah adams nicht gefällt. Es geht um enemies to lovers, an sich eine gute Geschichte, dass man früher zusammen auf der selben Schule war und sich nicht mochte, und dann irgendwann wieder sieht und merkt, dass man sich eigentlich doch geliebt hat, aber ich frag mich, ob es sich dabei um über 20-jährige handelt oder um noch 15-jährige Personen, vor allem am Anfang vom Buch. in dem ersten Buch von dem Zweiband war mir June noch sympathisch, aber irgendwann hat sie mich einfach noch genervt. Ich hab es abwechselnd mit einem Hörbuch gehört daran kann es auch liegen. Ich fand die Stimme nämlich auch nicht gut :( Man hätte auf jeden Fall mehr daraus machen können. Ich hab das Gefühl, sie wollte das Buch einfach nur schnell fertig schreiben.🥲 aber ich sag mal so für 270 Seiten ist es trotzdem eine Geschichte mit Inhalt geworden deswegen gibt es trotzdem zwei Sterne :)

Well to start of, I really liked the story of this one, I think the characters seem real and likeable, I also liked the style of writing. I mean it was nothing special or outstanding but it was a really quick, sweet and fun read. But the reason why I gave this book 3 stars instead of 4 is that the main character, June, is EXTREMELY annoying… now, it could be only me and my point of view but in my opinion her backstory was not that bad and she had no reason to make such a big thing out of everything. SPOILER: Okay so maybe im underestimating how bad it really is to get cheated on but I found her really annoying. And I also did not like the end, or the near end, where Ryan and June had a fight, which was literally all her fault, and she made him apologize while acting like a victim. But that’s actually it. I liked the plottwists and all, like I said the storyline… if the author could have made June less annoying the book would have been way better and more fun.
