No one said fair trade needed to be “fair.”
As the owner of Honeysuckle Salon, Jessie Barnes usually has everything managed and on track, but now in her third trimester of an unexpected pregnancy, she feels a bit lost and increasingly desperate after faulty plumbing floods her apartment. Unfortunately, her knight in shining armor is actually Dr. Drew Marshall, her best friend’s brother, and he’s also the man she chewed out not too long ago for being a chauvinistic dirtbag.
Every moment Drew’s had to prove her wrong since then has failed, so Jessie’s opinion of him hasn’t improved. That remains the case when he agrees to let her stay with him during renovations, under one condition: She pretends to be his girlfriend for upcoming work festivities. For the sake of her brother, Jessie is willing to make the tough situation work, and giving Drew a taste of his own medicine sounds . . . intriguing.
But when their rivalry sparks a deeper connection, Jessie’s future becomes even more unclear—and with a baby on the way, she’ll have to make a decision soon.

This book is just a little over 300 pages long, which in my opinion is quite short, and to be honest, I wasn’t sure if that’s enough to make me root for Jessie and Drew and to make their story believable. However, I was proven very wrong. Sarah did her thing and made it work! Loved Jessie and Drew’s chemistry and banter. Jessie tends to have a more extroverted and dramatic side which complemented Drew’s introverted personality really nicely. But I think the best part was their shared sense of humour! Those two just made sense and I don’t think there’s anything remotely better than finding common ground when it comes to humour. As this is the revised edition, I cannot comment on what the changes are compared to the previously released edition and if said changes are good or bad. I did, however, enjoyed the bonus epilogue very much. It was super cute and gave a nice little glimpse into Jessie and Drew’s future. Admittedly, I can see where people might have issues with this book. Which I think would mainly be with Jessie and some of her behaviour and especially one of the pranks ( if you read the book, you will know which one). I'm still not quite sure why she felt the need to actually to go through with it. ‘The Temporary Roomie’ is the second book in the ‘It Happened in Nashville’ series, but can be read perfectly fine as a standalone. I haven’t read book one in this series, ‘The Off Limits Rule’, but will make sure to catch up on that. Thank you to Headline Eternal for providing this book for review via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Mood swings are a real thing
Okay, let me get this straight, I really enjoyed the book. But wtf were the two of them doing for like half the book? This "Oh I am ranking the other person to piss them off and then the other one will be doing the same.." That's literally for 5 year old kids, not around 30 years old. I am glad they had chemistry. Otherwise, I am sure I wouldn't have been able to finish this book. Great end, tho. Special mentions: granddaddy, Lucy, and Cooper, I love yall!
The Queen of cozy and relaxed books
This book was such a cozy, fun read! I seriously love everything Sarah Adams writes, and The Temporary Roomie totally delivered. The characters were adorable, the banter made me laugh out loud, and the whole vibe was just so warm and happy. It’s one of those books that just puts you in a good mood. I’m only knocking off half a star because a few things were a bit predictable, but honestly, I didn’t even care because I had such a great time reading it. Definitely recommend if you’re in the mood for something cute and feel-good!
