This is book #62 and my second 5star read of 2024. The only reason it took me TWO FULL MONTHS to read this book is because I had to put it down every two chapters for at least a week, because I was crying. But it was really more like sobbing and ugly crying. I was not expecting to feel all the feelings that I felt while reading. But I did. I read “You, With a View” earlier this year and absolutely loved it, so I was even more excited to read the author’s follow up novel. The writing was great. Really, really great. Amazing even. The emotions? The HURT ? The FEELINGS? This book truly had everything. And by everything, I do mean everything. Georgia and Eli’s story is so heartbreaking (literally), but so wonderful at the same time. Jessica managed to capture all of the good, the ugly and the messy in words in a way that makes it really hard not to feel everything the characters were feeling. I loved how we got to see the past and present and all of the change that happened in between, especially when we got towards the end and we got to see them communicating their wants and needs and figuring out their future. I also really loved the side characters! Every single one of them. They were funny, thoughtful, loving and everything you would want to have in a really good friend. I’m not really into second-chance romances, but if they were all written like that, maybe I need to change my stance on that. If you enjoyed Emily Henry’s ‘Happy Place’, this might be something you want to try as well, as it has the same kind of sentiment ‘Happy Place’ has. Just worse, but in the best way possible. I highly recommend it. 10/10 no notes. Thank you to Penguin for providing this book for review via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Tolle Second Chance Romance!

This is exactly how you write a second chance romance!! The romance in this books is full of angst and yearning and it made me so emotional while reading. Part of that was because of the beautiful writing. It made it very easy to connect with the characters and feel everything they were going through. Also, one of my favorite things was that both characters were responsible for their breakup and that the reason they separated felt completely understandable. They both made mistakes, but I found myself rooting for them anyways. Additionally , Eli’s anxiety was portrayed extremely well. I could see a lot of myself in him and the panic attack scenes were handled with so much care. And Georgia with her to-do lists and her struggle to communicate her needs? I see you girl. Even though the book deals with some heavier topics, the rom-com elements balance everything out perfectly. The wedding setting adds so much fun and makes it a great spring/summer read. But don’t get fooled by the cutesy cover, this book will absolutely make you cry (but it’ll also have you grinning from ear to ear).
THIS IS WHY SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE IS MY FAVOURITE TROPE!!! The angst, the history, the banter, the setting and a pathetic man, what more can you ask for. This felt so real, the characters and conversations felt natural and flowed really well. I am a sucker for weddings and having them save their best friends wedding was such a fun trope. It made for entertaining but also gut wrenching scenes. This book had a love declaration that made me sob for SEVERAL pages ( I am a certified declartion hater...). The book was really complex and I was able to relate to Georgia struggling with the change in her life. The friendship aspect in this book was really strong, not just between Georgia and Eli but also Adam, Grace, Jamie and Blake (Jamie being the star here). I love a solidly written friendgroup. It has to be said that Eli Mora is THE MAN. I really enjoyed how his developement was shown and his determination was swoonworthy.
after thinking about the book for a day, I have to be real and change the rating to five stars!! usually, I am not a huge fan of second chance romances but I do love this book so much. Georgia being a people pleaser made this book so much more relatable for me, her struggles were very real and so valid!! I accept no Georgia slander. Seeing the way both, Eli and Georgia changed through the five years was very nice to read about. Both of them learned to prioritize themselves and each other in a HEALTHY WAY!! and I just loved to see it. Eli was the cutest man ever and I hope that a man like that will find me soon, hehehe
For some reason, I had a really hard time getting into this book and there were long stretches where I would lose focus over and over again, but didn’t feel like I had missed anything. The female main character isn’t all that interesting, it feels like all the character development and depth went into the male main character. It was almost head spinning the way the author switched from the past to the present when you don’t really know the characters yet and don’t know what belongs in the here and now and what is just memories. The paper ring thing is so cute. It made me cry in the end. It was a fun story, but the storytelling wasn’t all too great in my opinion and could’ve been more interesting what with such a popular trope.
