Description
For as long as ten-year-old Moon can remember, he has lived out in the forest in a shelter with his father. They keep to themselves, their only contact with other human beings an occasional trip to the nearest general store. When Moon's father dies, Moon follows his father's last instructions: to travel to Alaska to find others like themselves. But Moon is soon caught and entangled in a world he doesn't know or understand; he's become property of the government he has been avoiding all his life. As the spirited and resourceful Moon encounters constables, jails, institutions, lawyers, true friends, and true enemies, he adapts his wilderness survival skills and learns to survive in the outside world, and even, perhaps, make his home there.

Alabama Moon von Watt Key hat mich komplett begeistert. Die Geschichte über einen Jungen, der im Wald aufwächst und plötzlich gezwungen ist, sich in der Zivilisation zurechtzufinden, ist so unterhaltsam, ehrlich und berührend. Man spürt beim Lesen die Freiheit, die Einsamkeit und den inneren Konflikt zwischen Selbstbestimmung und Anpassung. Ich fand die ganzen Survival Elemente und Naturnahen Situationen richtig toll. Das Buch hat vor allem Themen wie Verlust, Gesellschaftskritik und den Wunsch nach Zugehörigkeit miteinander verbunden und ziemlich gut nach außen transportiert. Für mich ist Alabama Moon ein starkes, authentisches Werk über Freiheit, Mut und was es bedeutet, wirklich man selbst zu sein und für sich einzustehen und für die die man liebt.

Sehr sehr mitreißend. Die Geschichte passt aber sowas von in das Abteil Abenteuer. Für Leute die gerne action lesen ist das das richtige für sie. Denn da ist fast in jeder Szene etwas von dabei. Abenteuer in der Wildnis und Reisen durch die ganze Welt das ist das Motto in diesem Buch ( Meiner Meinung nach) Wie findet ihr es ? Eure Meinung in die Kommentare! ⚡📚📕
„Alabama Moon“ ist ein toller Jugendroman über einen Jungen, der die ersten zehn Jahre allein mit seinem Vater in der Wildnis verbringt und der nach dessen Tod plötzlich auf sich gestellt ist und lernen muss, seinen Weg zu gehen. Dabei lernt Moon erstmalig auch den Wert von Freundschaft kennen und dass es außerhalb der Wälder auch eine Welt gibt…
Re-read from 2024. Guess I'll cry every time I read this book. This time I read it with my 9 y.o. daughter, because I wanted to hear what she thought about it, though she probably couldn't understand the deeper meaning of the whole set up and kind of imagined it as a fun adventure (just like the Pinson boys experienced it). But my poor heart still aches for the little boy, who is beyond able to survive on his own in the wilderness but not because he wants to but because he's forced to because of his dads beliefs and their solitude that both leave Moon not trusting anyone.
