Description
Three years have passed since Shen Qingqiu betrayed Luo Binghe, and now there are only two years left before his “deceased” disciple rises from the dead to claim his bloody glory as the protagonist. At least, that’s how the story is supposed to go.
In the midst of investigating a mysterious plague, Shen Qingqiu discovers that his actions have irreparably altered the plot—Luo Binghe has returned all too soon and Shen Qingqiu’s brilliant escape plan isn’t even ready yet! Worse, Shen Qingqiu can no longer predict his young disciple’s actions.
The only thing that hasn’t changed is Luo Binghe’s intense fixation on Shen Qingqiu himself, but even this obsession may be more than it seems. Not that Shen Qingqiu has the time to puzzle through all the inconsistencies. There are various parties at play in the changing plot, and if he doesn’t act fast, he may face a fate far worse than death.

This book was less emotional than the first one, which is a bit sad to me since I enjoy angst. However, I really liked the jokes and the dynamic between the characters, as well as Luo Binghe being misunderstood and depressed,poor guy. I couldn't put this one down yet again. It was really engaging, and it does super well with trope subversion and making fun of bad novels. Personally, I like SQQ, but man, he is dense... I really can't imagine how the two main characters are supposed to date at all at some point. LBH is mentally unstable and borderline abusive while SQQ is stuck with internalised homophobia. I had rather SQQ and YQY get together :") Nonetheless it is a great parody and thus fullfills it's job quite well.

The second volume was even better than the first one. Luo Binghe returns after his 'darkening' and there are even more time skips so most characters are in their 20s now. And oh Boi, the tension is real 👀 You never know how Luo Binghe is going to react and when he is going to snap. But it's still really funny inbetween and I was wheezing at Shen Qingqius comments and oblivious world view 😂 He never imagined that this story could turn into a danmei and with him being the love interest lol. It was hilarious when he finally realized that the main character 'didn't want to kill him but to do him' (which is a direct quote xD). Directly continuing with volume 3, can't wait until it becomes mutual (wonder how that is going to happen lol).
Heart wrenching misunderstandings and a well written shift in the protagonists' relationship
Vol. 2 portrays the change in SQQ and LBH's dynamic incredibly well. I'm always impressed by how realistically MXTX has developed the misunderstandings based on assumptions instead of being honest with each other between the two. It always breaks my heart. SQQ, that emotionally repressed idiot, really made me want to smash my head against the wall. He was so oblivious in vol. 2 and lived up to his name as an unreliable narrator. But towards the end we at least finally see him start to realize reality and that he can no longer ignore the truth.
Sehr Spannend und mitreißend
Dieses Band fand ich besser als das Erste. Es gab so viele Plot Twists das es niemals langweilig wurde. Leider bin ich von Luo Binghe kein Fan. Er ist mir viel zu gewaltig und seine Handeln ist irrational. Shen Quinqiu finde ich aber sehr sympatisch und liebe seine Art. Seine Gedanken zum System waren wiedermal sehr lustig.
Etwas enttäuschend...
Der 2. Teil von SVSSS überzeugt mich weiterhin eher durch den Isekai Part, die Story nimmt an Fahrt auf, es gibt Action, Plottwists und es wird einfach nicht langweilig. Auch trennt sich der Plot immer mehr von dem, welcher SQ kennt, weshalb er etwas mehr improvisieren muss, was es interessant bleiben lässt. Der Band hat für mich aber auch Schwächen, was einmal SQ an sich betrifft, als auch der Romanze, die noch kommen soll... SQ hat mich zwischendurch einfach sehr genervt, weil, obwohl ihm bereits klar wurde, dass sich der Plot geändert hat, er sehr vorurteilsbehaftet bleibt und darauf wartet, dass sich Ereignisse des Original-Plots wie vertraut abspielen. Am Anfang war das ja noch verständlich, aber das hat sich einfach sehr lange gehalten, bis zu einem Punkt, wo es einfach zu viel wurde für mich. Und was die kommende Romanze angeht... Ich sehe das momentan zwischen den beiden leider gar nicht. LB ist einfach auf ne ungesunde Art obsessed, auf eine Weise, die mir nicht gefällt. Wenn sich da nichts ändert... uff. Und was SQ angeht, so ist von seiner Seite aus momentan einfach absolut nichts da, nada, zu dem Punkt, wo er vor LB fliehen will, als er davon erfährt, dass der ihn vermeintlich liebt. Gepaart mit einer Prise internalized homophobia, wo er zwischendurch vehement davon spricht, dass er nicht gay sei. Auch teilweise die Wortwahl, wo er davon spricht, er hätte den "Stallion" asexuell, bzw. gay gemacht, hat mir überhaupt nicht gefallen, weil man einfach niemanden dazu "machen"/erziehen kann (plus, es war wieder so geschrieben, als wäre es etwas schlechtes... halt alles aus seiner Sicht, nicht der der Autorin, aber das hilft nicht dabei, zu sehen, wie das noch ein guter Danmei werden soll). Ich werde die Reihe noch weiter lesen, einfach weil ich noch wissen will, wie sich das Ganze auflöst, und sich die Bücher schnell lesen. Beim Danmei Teil mache ich mir aber momentan kaum Hoffnungen. Aber das ship mögen ja auch offensichtlich viele, also wer weiß, vielleicht schaffen es die nächsten 2 Bände noch, das Ganze rum zu reißen... da muss dann für mich aber noch einiges passieren.
What an improvement from the first book! The translation is still questionable at many points, and there are a few logical errors, but the plot is GREAT. Luo Binghe has gone fully unhinged (which I love), Shen Qingqui is hilariously lost and discovering many…interesting hehe…things. I’m very excited to continue this series, already ordered the book!
