I’ve read the books twice but never listened to the audiobooks. So this is my first time. Very surprised by the narrator, his voice is very soothing. Gotta say I did listen to it in 1.2 oftentimes because he reads quite slow.

Absolut magisch & perfekt für den Winter ❄️

"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" ist der chronologisch 2.

liked it more when i was a child. still amazing tho

A child book not for children.

Written from a narrator perspective their is no deeper meaning or description in any of the scenes or any of the minds that are present. The language is shallow, the story very straight forward without twists or turns. It reads like one list of actions that were simply taken without any engaging writing style. Death being a prominent topic, is in my opinion not well fitted for a children book, which is why i have no issue in saying that this books writing style plainly sucks for the level it is apparently written for. I have not watched the movie adaption, but it wouldnt be a surprise if it is far better than the book(s).

Klassische Kindergeschichte

I can still remember how enthralled I've been when first watching The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the 2005 film version. Back then, I was a young boy easily enchanted by stories of strong fantasy creatures divided into good and evil, and that's basically the target audience this book has been written for. After watching the movie, I immediately went to my primary school's library and borrowed "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". While I rewatched the movie several times afterwards, I never returned to the novel itself and didn't remember quite much about it until today. To be honest, I didn't even notice the existence of six sequels, although I remember having watched at least some parts of "Prince Caspian", the second part of the movie trilogy. This afternoon, I came across a copy of this first volume of the "Chronicles of Narnia", and decided to reread it in order to prepare for reading the six other books. I've heard they are pretty easy to read and, in addition, not too long, so it should be a bearable decision for my reading habits. As to "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", the novel can be considered to be a classic depiction of characters divided into good and evil for the sake of its younger readers. I don't know why that's even the case - I do not in the least appreciate one-dimensional villains and/or good characters to root for. In fact, C.S. Lewis made it pretty easy to decide from early on which characters are the ones to be loved and which are the ones to be hated by his readers. But neither Aslan nor the White Witch - both of them can be considered to be the two huge forces of this novel - were characters in their own right; they were stereotypes, the noble king with the generous heart, and the evil, manipulating witch with her deadly abilities. Nobody else was allowed to have any kind of motivation for his/her deeds (apart from Edmund, perhaps), their single justification for being existent in the story was Lewis' need for characters to support either the good or the evil ones. Yet, apart from these factors, I still enjoyed the story. Lewis managed to create a magnificient fantasy world, and I easily remember how much I admired the world-building and the entire story as a child. C.S. Lewis created a world of magic, and for every child who is interested in magical fantasy worlds and literary children escaping into unknown, foreign countries, this is a novel to be recommended.

I loved this book so much!!

Loved it as a kid, and was deeply upset to find out that the series had religious undertones. Wish no one had pointed it out; ignorance is bliss.

I'd been delaying reading this book for more than a decade. Now it was a perfect choice for the christmas holidays: a wonderful short fairy tale about good conquering evil. As an adult you can clearly see some inconsistencies and clear biblical scenarios, but if you just try to read it without thinking too much you will get a beautiful magical story that will make you feel like you got lost between the fur coats of the wardrobe together with Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy :)

Quite good! Really nostalgic feeling hehe

This time it is really difficult for me rate this book, there are many highs and lows. Overall, I really like the writing style of Lewis, it is always funny, when the author speaks to the reader directly and when he/she shortens stuff, that would otherwise be boring, but is somehow required to mention. What I really, really don't like is the course of the books. It starts with the genesis of Narnia and the introduction of the first two children, that is fine for me. Then a villain arises, threatens Narnia and new children are introduced. And then, basically the same happens over and over again in all books until the last one. The end of the last book is horrible, I like it when a story is completed but not when an author just gets rid of characters and/or worlds.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It’s such a quick and lovely read. One can definitely see that this targets a much younger audience then myself but I throughly enjoyed reading it nonetheless. I’m excited to see the story unfold in the next books.
