About the book

StarHearts, as fans of Josephine Angelini call themselves, will stay up all night reading Dreamless, the second book in the bestselling Starcrossed series. The saga mixes mythology, romance, action, and intrigue in a completely original way.
Dreamless continues the story of Helen Hamilton, a shy girl living on Nantucket Island whose desire for an ordinary life was thwarted when she discovered she is a Scion, a descendant of a Greek god and a mortal. Each Scion has a power, and Helen’s is the ability to travel to Hades.
Helen is determined to use her talent to stop a war amongst the gods and change her destiny, which is to live a life patterned after that of the tragic Helen of Troy. But her quest may cost her Lucas Delios, the boy she loves.
One mission to save the world. Two cousins who can’t stay away from each other.
- Star-Crossed Lovers: Helen and Lucas were destined for each other—until they discovered a secret that makes their love a crime.- A Journey to the Underworld: Every night, Helen descends into Hades, facing untold horrors to break a curse that has plagued her family for millennia.- Modern Gods and Demigods: On the island of Nantucket, the descendants of the gods live in secret, fighting an ancient war while trying to survive high school.- A Fated Heroine: Tasked with rewriting the tragedy of her ancestor, Helen of Troy, she must choose between her destiny and her heart.

The first half of the book was really enjoyable, but then everything just got worse and worse. It took me such a long time to read this book because in the middle of it I was so annoyed by the characters and bored by the plot, I just couldn't really get myself to pick this book up again. (This also happened when I read the first book.) By the end, I just wanted it to be over and I counted the pages until the book was finished. Overall it was quite good, and I will also read the third book in the series, since it's on my shelf already, but not in the near future. 3.5/5 ★
