What. A. Ride. (Rather 4.5 Stars) I actually had to choose the time of reading carefully as I was completely dragged into this world as soon as I picked up the book. I simply could not stop reading. It was exhausting. Exciting. Terrifying. Thrilling. Shocking. Deceiving. ... I could go on and on. I really enjoyed it. Now onto something that includes a little more boredom, a line or two to have a breather.

Thrilling, gripping and thought provoking

Even if the ending is really unexpected and hits you like a truck the story will grip you and not let you go until you finish the book. Going back after you finish it is the craziest experience seeing all the clues you haven’t before. A great murder mystery that is classic yet entirely new.

Initial thoughts: this book was too much. The overall moral is good but also a bit ???? Yes prison systems bad and yes rehabilitation is important, but it felt just a bit shallow and not fully pulled through as a commentary on this. Which is fine if the author didn’t want to do this. The interview though kinda alludes it was the desired intention. Missed the mark for me a bit. Overall very intriguing and for once I did not see every single twist coming, kudos for that!! So yeah might bump it up to 4? But also I can’t say I enjoyed it THAT much. A bit unsure and stuck. It is a very unique story though, fr props for that. Edit (18.01.2024): actually I’m about to bump it down to 2 stars lmfao. The more I think about it the less I enjoyed it

3.5 ⭐️ 10/10 concept but I feel like this would work so much better as a tv show? Still really atmospheric and very interesting ideas implemented

3.5 Non-linear and non-deterministic quasi timetravel murder-mystery sums this book up quite nicely. I enjoyed it despite its flaws (the setup/amnesia + execution towards the end). It's very neat for a non-linear story, which always a concern with these. It also reminded me slightly of Knives Out.
