Also ich bin ehrlich, ich hab das Buch fürs Cover gekauft. Was ich dann gelesen habe … Mir hat wirklich alles daran gefallen. Und man könnte meinen: dann sollte es länger sein. Aber Novellen haben auch ihre Berechtigung und das war einfach perfekt. Ich habe mit Polen nichts zu tun und auch slawische Mythologie ist kein Thema, mit dem ich mich gut auskenne. Also fachlich kann ich nichts dazu sagen. Aber der Stil, die Charaktere, die Geschichte. Ich freue mich Band 2 zu lesen!

Als ich sah, dass Veronica Roth ein neues Buch rausbringt war mir klar: Das muss ich haben. Ich wusste, dass es polnische Folklore behandelte und war doch am Anfang ziemlich verloren. Viele Begriffe und Wesen, für die es kein Glossar gibt, aber man fuchst sich da irgendwie rein. Trotzdem empfand ich das Leseerlebnis als sehr schleppend und trotz des geringen Umfang des Buches kam ich kaum voran. Ich habe das Buch schließlich einen Monat pausiert und nun vor ein paar Tagen wieder zur Hand genommen und beendet. Die letzten 35% waren dann wirklich spannend, ließ einen vor allem mit Dymitr und Ala mitfühlen und mitfiebern. Das Ende hat mich positiv überrascht. Mir hat das Buch im Großen und Ganzen gefallen, ich war auf jeden Fall Mal etwas anderes.
