Description
The daughter of a bounty hunter.
The knight sworn to protect her.
And the prophecy that destroys their lives . . .
Elegy Ahn did not ask for destiny to find her. She's a soldier defending her small country against a powerful enemy: the Talusar, who worship a Fever that brings death to everyone it touches . . . except those who it resurrects, forever changed. Rava Vidar is a Talusar general with a reputation for cruelty and triumph. And when Elegy and Rava first meet, it's to hear a prophecy that could apply to either of them.
The prophecy declares that either one of them could carry their people to victory. But at the center of both of their fates is a man. A man who, Elegy is told, will bring her death. A man she'll fall in love with. With two nations at stake, she and Rava are destined to collide. And when they do, only one will be left standing. Elegy intends to make sure it's her.
An extraordinary epic begins.

'A story of treachery and enduring love, Seek the Traitor's Son is epic in its stakes and intimate in its romance, but most of all I loved its core of deep compassion'

'Veronica Roth reaches for epic, and grabs it beautifully'
- John Scalzi, New York Times bestselling author of Starter Villain
'Veronica Roth has created yet another immersive world full of high stakes and fast-moving action where prophecy and destiny collide'

It's epic, it's sci-fi, it's dystopian. It's my kinda book. The worldbuilding in Seek the Traitor's Son is highly complex with knights, space stations, advanced technology, and a mysterious prophecy that ties it all together. It’s a lot to take in, but Roth makes it work, creating a world that’s as intriguing as it is expansive. At the center of the both the plot in the in-world worship is "the Fever", a ritual forced upon those coming of age. It will either kill them or bring them unique powers. I particularly loved how the romance subplot only simmered beneath the surface without overshadowing the main plot. It was there and it was meaningful, but it didn’t steal the show. And I loved that there is queer rep! The characters are extremely interesting, with their own motivations, secrets, and moral ambiguities. Elegy Ahn, the protagonist, is a standout. She's tough and determined. The supporting cast is great as well. No notes there. Now, I’ll admit, I’m getting a bit tired of the prophecy trope lately, especially knowing that nothing is as it seems. But then again, a bit of mystery of how things will play out also keeps me interested. I loved the audio narration very much, putting me right into the center of things and keeping everything highly immersive. 4/5 stars Thank you to @NetGalley and @macmillan.audio for the eARC! #SeekTheTraitorsSon #Bookstagram #NetGalley
