About the book

Would you - could you? - uphold the law at the cost of those you love?

Falcio val Mond, First Cantor of the Greatcoats, is on the brink of fulfilling his dead King's dream: Aline is about to take the throne and restore the rule of law once and for all.

'I will cherish this amazing quartet for as long as I live' Goodreads reviewer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

But for the Greatcoats, nothing is ever that simple. In neighbouring Avares, an enigmatic new warlord is uniting the barbarian armies and even worse, he is rumoured to have a new ally: Falcio's old nemesis Trin. With the armies of Avares at her back, she'll be unstoppable.

'This is the best book of the series'Goodreads reviewer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Falcio, Kest and Brasti go racing north to stop her, but in those cold, treacherous climes they discover something altogether different - and far more dangerous: a new player plans to take the throne of Tristia, and the Greatcoats, for all their determination and skill, may not be able to stop him.

'Sebastien de Castell is among my favorites authors; his Greatcoats series listed among my most beloved fantasy series ever, resting proudly next to those of Tolkien, Donaldson, and many more'Goodreads reviewer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tyrant's Throne is an absolutely worthy finale of the Greatcoats series. Falcio, Brasti and Kest are still trying to keep Tristia stable, and now there is another thread from the neighboring country that promises war. There are also interpersonal struggles for the characters. Falcio has to let go of his past and the pedestals he likes to put everyone he loves on. This is especially the biggest obstacle in his relationship to Ethalia, who refuses to be idealized. Even after everything they have done, the Greatcoats are still always blamed for anything bad happening in the country and Tristia's citizen start to lose hope in everything Falcio is trying to achieve. It seems that even the country itself doesn't want to be saved. The ending is nothing short of epic and a wonderful conclusion to the series. At the same time, it opens possibilities for the future. This book made me laugh and cry and really reminded me why I love both the genre and its author so much. Now, I'm even more impatient for the next book set in this world!
